The owner is a very grumpy little man with an awful attitude towards customers and staff. My last experience at A1 was enough to make me write this review and also to never shop there again. With his awful customer service and the options now available online it's amazing he manages to stay in business. It's unfortunate as physical store like this have become fewer and fewer but as far as I'm concerned this place is now permanently closed

Owner is rude, arrogant, and just plain strange. Don't get me wrong I love supporting local businesses and not for a moment do I expect WalMart service but the people that work there lack the basic decency of civil interactions. In addition the whole place is an absolute mess with piles of old electronics even outside the front door! If the board of health ever visited they would shut that place down immediately. Total dump. Stay away!!!!

I visited on the weekend and needed some resistors and capacitors. Full Covid protocols in effect and service was at the door - no in store shopping. Glenn took my order and brought the components I needed in a sealed plastic bag with my change at the bottom. It was like ordering food at a fast food takeout! Fast and convenient. This is a specialty shop serving electronic hobbyists and technicians who need parts to perform repairs. If you know what you want - they are more than happy to serve you. I have been in this store (pre-covid) and have heard many inane shoppers coming in - asking millions of questions and not really knowing what they want and wanting parts for nothing when they are reasonably priced already. I can understand the owner's frustration - having to deal with them. Many don't see the types of interactions that take place when having to deal with the general public. This is not the Source , Bestbuy or Walmart. They also recycle electronics -so the piles of electronics outside the store are many 'salvage' units waiting to be dismantled. They've been in business over 40 years - so that should tell you something. Rock on A1!

You will find ANY electronic part here dated back until their inventions. Just search long enough... or ask the owner, usually there on weekdays

Amazing store, has all the electronics i need for my projects, everything from oscilloscopes to vacuum tubes, they have it. However, if you are looking for something similar to Creatron .Inc this isn't the place, A1 electronics is better suited for makers and people looking to build or repair something, or who need equipment. Store has many isles and it isn't an exaggeration to say there stock consists of hundreds of thousands of assorted components and equipment placed in a semi-organised fashion. Finding what you need may be difficult, so make sure to plan to be in the store for almost an hour, which honestly isn't a bad thing as its one of the only large surplus electronic stores left in the GTA. Overall I never had a bad visit and always left with what I needed and a little more. Despite what some people may say about the older gentleman who owns and works there, he is very nice and is always a pleasure to interact with. There is no other store like this in the world and A1 is truly one of a kind.

HEADS UP: You need proof of vaccination to enter the store. And that's totally fine. Except...there's no way of knowing you need it – no warning on their website, or even a sign posted on their locked front door. So, when you knock on the door, a surly little man barks for your vaccine papers. He then informs you that you are being watched by the owner of the store through security cameras. He then reasons that you should have called first to find out about the need for vaccination proof (that exists only here and at no other store I've been to in the last 2 years of this pandemic). So...yeah...my bad? Honestly, this store has never been a friendly or helpful place so this kind of behaviour is not surprising. But hopefully this review helps others know how to prepare before embarking on their own harrowing shopping experience at A1 Electronics Parts.

November 25, 2021 Thursday morning 9.03am I got to the store! I had my mask on. At the door mean woman with no mask on her face blocked me at the door! I asked her if I can get inside, she requested proof of vaccine I showed to her through the glass door on my phone! She said wait and went inside store, I guess to find her mask. I waited for a good 5 mins she didn’t show up..then I left. Thank you for keeping us safe!!!!!!

If you need some old tech, this is the place to go. Prices are good and honestly the owner is quite funny although I see how some can see it come across rude. Have been there multiple times and haven't had any issues so far. Miss the days with Active Surplus but at least this still exists.
