Like many Universities, they have totally a outdated teaching requiring students to take totally unrelated courses in Science for an Arts degree. 54 credits in the core course and 18 credits in Gen Ed, I understand why but why dont you give students something to learn that actually interests them? Admissions is unresponsive and totally unhelpful with the attitude of If you want to come here great, but dont ask too many questions. Dont waste your time in a Uni if you are looking to actually learn and get good at your core area of specialization or if this is your second time studying formally. Colleges are better for that sort of thing.

The school has it's problems but its not as bad as some people think. There are pros and cons but I'll start with the pros. I came to York University in 2015 pursuing a degree in business and I found that the university is a city unto itself. You can go to York University and spend your time in the massive library studying or in the computer labs playing games. There is a massive food court at York's Campus and I've spent thousands of dollars during my 3 years I attended York. Personally I loved going to Popeye's, Tim Horton's and Hero Burger but that's personal preference. My professors were good but some had their issues. I remember dropping a class because the accounting professor was nearly uncomprensable from his thick asian accent. There was no way I could learn from his lecture ans I dropped his class the same day. There are other issues like parking and bus problems. Parking is astronomically expensive and the bus is just not convenient.

Is it the best university in the world? Definitely not. Is it the worst? No it is not. It is a mediocre school. The administration is frustrating, but that is not unique to this school. The teachers vary, but in general are nice enough and care about teaching.

Best University hands down. I went here for the BAS Honours Accounting and Marketing program graduated in 2016. Most positive experience Helped me get me professional employment to buy my first house/ BMW and Mercedes Benz couldn't of done or had it without this school.

The institution is a joke, particularly its administration. I cannot speak on behalf of other universities but peers of mine have been enjoying their experience. I cannot say the same for York U. Horrid policies regarding the pandemic. Do not expect to be safe while on campus since it is bordering Jane and Finch.

My university, my employer and a home for me for many decades now. An interesting destination even if you're not a student: there are musical and theatrical performances, art exhibits, interesting lectures, some great places to eat and a bookstore where it's possible to order all kinds of unique books. Check out one of Canada's most important research institutions sometime!

I went to York for my undergrad and found the services to be very poor back 2009-2015. The lack of access to academic advising and the massive class sizes made my education very impersonal and not customized. The best part of York were the students and friendships I made in the village housing complex beside campus. My education was highly impractical. The lack of guidance was the largest issue and making an appointment with student services was near impossible. I went to George Brown College for a diploma after completing my undergrad at York and the service and classes were way above York's and now doing a Post Graduate Certificate at Humber College and the teachers and services are about 10 times better than York. Class size is small and the advising and admin of the school are excellent.

A TOP OF THE CLASS Canadian educational institution! My son went to York University and was hired instantly right out of school. Great teachers, brilliant facilities and high-quality education. Only downside is that tuition can get quite pricey and the fees add up.
