★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you're going through Wicksteed lake, there's no better campsite than this. The island campsite offers protection from potentially dangerous animals on the mainland, and is usually free from mosquitoes thanks to a sweeping northern wind. By my observation, there are three relatively level camping pads (suitable for 4p tents), and lots of trees suitable for a sleeper hammock. The firepit has plenty of flat stones for cookware, and the camp area has amazing views of the lake.
The only thing to be aware of is that Wicksteed lake in general has more mosquitoes than most. Also, the northern portage from the Darky Lake tributary is difficult to find and traverse. Find another route in if possible!
