Lake Superior Picnic Lunch - On the mouth of the Dog River.
Approximately 20 miles west of Wawa is the beautiful and rugged Dog River. We will land on the beach, enjoy a picnic lunch and take a hike up the river to Denison Falls. This spectacular waterfall flows through a narrow chute carved from bedrock before plunging 300 feet down to the rocks below.
Sightseeing tours are also available. Wilderness offers many different sight-seeing packages. Everything from 12 minute flights of Wawa and surrounding area to many hour trips exploring anything you desire.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Has a number of things you don't always get in small town motels that make this the place to stay in White River IMHO.
1) Immaculately clean and well maintained.
2) Solid WiFi. Got consistent 20MB down/4MB up when motel was fully booked.
3) More than just the basic cable package. Had 60 channels to choose from.
4) BBQ available so I could cook my own dinner.

Ended up with the last room...but it wasn't a room, it was a 2 bedroom fully furnished, clean and comfortable unit and the price was less than one would pay at a hotel for a basic room. Next time we'll bring our own food to cook in the new fully stocked (plates, glasses, silverware, pots and pans) kitchen. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A thank you to Dwijen and Kishan. We pulled in to White River Motel on a very cold night this winter. I noticed the clerk/owner was dealing with a very neurotic customer on the phone very kindly. Unflustered, he helped us settle into what turned out to be a warm, clean and quiet room. He didn't mind that we plugged our electric car in overnight. There was an extra powder room/kitchenette which is always nice. In the morning, we forgot our box of electronics including my Macbook! By the time we realized it, we were hundreds of miles away. I need not have worried, these folks treat their customers with respect and honesty. They took care of it, and sent me the parcel at their expense. Very sweet.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place was pretty standard in terms of what to expect for a roadside motel. Fairly clean, unfussy. Came with a mini fridge. It is also dog friendly, though it costs another $20 for a pet, for a grand total of $133 tax included. The room had a funny smell to it...the carpets smelled like a combo of feet and urinal pucks. I think it has to do with the kind of soap they use to clean the carpet, because my dog reeked all day of that carpet smell, and so did my hat that I dropped on the floor overnight. This place should replace that gross carpet entirely.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The motel looked nice and as I approached the office I was rather looking forward to spending the night. Sadly, however, they lost my reservation, even though I had a confirmation email. They eventually found the reservation but it hadn't been entered properly into their system and they were fully booked and were not able to honour the reservation. They were extremely apologetic and offered me a room in a construction trailer out back and charged me $30. I wouldn't book again for fear of them losing my reservation again. :(
