Well, I worked for this organization for three years. The bosses were horrible. They always demanded a timely execution of the duties of bus driver. As a worker, who drove the legal and then (private) logging roads, I have to say it is a long and arduous journey from Victoria, British Columbia, Canadaa and tye trailheads. Michael Anderson is hiding.

45min late for pickup from Port Renfrew. Beautiful weather no accidents or traffic issues, and no apology. When asked why was told "read your contract we are allowed to be an hour late". Should have had an hour buffer to make the last ferry instead had to sprint to make it. Missed the reservation cut off so lost our reservation and were damn lucky the ferry (last of the day) was not fully booked. In talking with the others waiting only one said they took the bus to the trailhead and said they were an hour late leaving Victoria which is the first stop of the day!! Friendly enough and eventually showed up but super expensive and pretty blase about service or punctuality. So long as you can spare an extra hour of sitting around. Drivers expectation seemed to be of course we are late why wouldn't we be?? 120 bucks for 4 people for a 35min ride. Apparently you can book a Taxi from Sooke (orange taxi) to pick you up and avoid the 2.5km hike on the road to Port Renfrew for less. Cant confirm just what we were told by ranger at trail terminus in Botany Bay. Definitely worth considering however if schedule means anything to you. Response to owner below. Per the weather network Port Renfrew had a grand total of 2.4mm of rain on the date of pickup. Per our experience that rain lasted briefly from 5 to 530pm and from 720 to 730pm. I am not sure how that qualifies as "torrential rain". The driver was clear that a 45min delay is within the contract wording and he is correct. When I asked for the reasons for delay I was given no specific reason. Traffic after the drop off was clear which allowed us to make the ferry although late so again no sure about the supposed heavy traffic response.. While I can appreciate that the owner would prefer my review to be handled privately I believe my review accurate and as I use these review sites to gauge service I felt the need to share my experience. Despite the stated disbelief that I wouldn't talk with the owners first it is telling that the owner has also failed to touch base with me prior to their response. I was without question curt with the driver and my annoyance clear but I was not in any way rude (nor friendly) to the driver. I am still astounded that when arriving so late you wouldn't lead with an apology. As mentioned in my original review the hour late from Victoria was anecdotal and not mine so perhaps it was overstated. As to the music festival this was not stated by the driver as a reason for delay. My review stands as is

My friend and I hiked the Juan de Fuca trail (south to north) in August 2021. Mike and WCTE saved our bacon when we inadvertently left our car keys on the shuttle. We had driven to Port Renfrew, left our car at the trailhead to Botanical Beach, and taken the shuttle down to China Beach, where we disembarked and discovered our terrible mistake. By roaming on a US cell network at Mystic (2 km into the trail), we were luckily able to contact Mike, who had earlier taken our booking, and who promised to investigate and do what he could. In the end, West Coast Trail Express not only ensured the keys were recovered from the bus (we couldn't even be 100% certain that's where we'd left them), but also arranged for them to be transported *back to Port Renfrew* so they would be there when we finished the trail. Of course, we only discovered this act of altruism once we emerged at at the north end of the trail, three days later, and made our way to the West Coast Lodge (where the shuttle departs Port Renfrew). A true hallelujah moment! Thanks, Mike, for service that went above and beyond.
