About West Coast Kids
The story of West Coast Kids and E-children...
West Coast Kids was born in 1974 in Winnipeg, Canada. I was a young mom looking for baby furniture for my first born, and I could not find what I was looking for: a stylish, quality nursery set from a family-owned boutique store. There were no specialty baby stores at all at that time! My parents, who were already in the furniture industry, encouraged me to pursue it further. Not after long, I opened a small store in the heart of the exchange district in Winnipeg. We called it Friendly Bears. From there, the company grew. First, in the 1990s in as E-Children in Alberta, then as West Coast Kids in British columbia in 2007. Finally, in 2015 we reached Ontario, opening our first of two stores in the GTA.
From the very beginning, the store was founded on offering parents a friendly boutique environment with the best and largest selection, at the very best prices. Our many years of experience enables us to identify first-hand which products best demonstrate safety, quality, function, value, and style. Now under the leadership of our daughter Robyn, West Coast Kids continues to provide you with everything you need for your family, plus the trendiest, most exciting new concepts for babies and kids. Today, we continue to be committed to the safety and comfort of your children, and we continue to guarantee the lowest price every day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered a car seat from them and it came to us in a questionable state. Looks to me like the box was previously opened (so used car seat?), has significant deformation (dropped?), and other problems. Waiting on Customer Service to follow up.
I have ordered car seats from the manufacturer before and they certainly don't come this way!
Either West Coast Kids or UPS screwed up.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve spent a lot of money with WCK in an effort to support a Winnipeg based company. Sadly it seems that they don’t care about their customers, only holding a monopoly on kids retail in Canada.
The positive is that they carry cool stuff and a very wide array of brands and products. I really like their catalogue of offerings.
After a recent negative experience that left me frustrated and in a difficult situation, i decided to ask my friends their experiences with WCK (so that i could see if i was just being a Karen). In polling my friends (many have kids and babies), almost everyone had negative things to say about WCK.
The general consensus is that website needs an upgrade (for a multi million $ company they could probably invest in a better platform), the customer service is nothing more than the bare minimum (training for staff has been suggested by a few people), and other various complaints.
My suggestion is to find a smaller baby boutique if you can. Your money will go further, and they will probably be more willing to help you out.

She went above and beyond to help us find the right one that we needed and recommended other products as well and definitely made our visit way easier and comfortable as it was our first baby.
Will definitely be going there again for more baby products!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had gone in to buy items off a friend's baby shower registry and had no clue what to do. I was approached by a manager named Jesther who was incredibly helpful. She pretty much did the shopping for me. When all was done, she wrapped the presents to boot! This store is incredible but not as incredible as Jesther.

Susan is unpleasant and overall very unprofessional. We catch her gossiping and openly mistreating her staff in front of customers.
Shopping here was uncomfortable and we will NOT support a company that tolerate toxic managers!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don't usually do review, but I will do it for Mabel who helped me last couple weeks. This is our first child, and we were so exhausted with the option of stroller and carseat. She helped us to pick out the right Infant seat and stroller. She is so knowledgeable and provide lot of recommendation from her previous customers. She also recommend us to do some more research unlike the other store forcing you to buy. Definitely going back for her.

We recently had Mabel helping us in store and can say that she went above and beyond what you normally get for customer service these days. We couldn’t believe how much she knew about all the products and the advice she was able to give. She genuinely cared about setting us up perfectly with exactly what we wanted. This store is now our go-to after visiting all the other baby stores in the city.

After three kids, this is still my go-to for gear and furniture—they carry many high end brands that are hard to find or unavailable elsewhere in the city. Staff are knowledgeable and super helpful—they really go above and beyond. I think this is the better of the two locations in the city, top notch service and definitely worth the trip downtown.
