Good food, fast & friendly service, iconic burger joint experience in the heart of Winnipeg. Came during via rail train so only in Winnipeg for one hour. Could not have agreed for a better take out dining experience, the burgers are succulent, pickle friendly and the vj special is a moist must. Fries must be eaten fresh since they are served in a paper bag. Chocolate milk shake was a thick decadent banging bar, would recommend to everyone. Service was so friendly, I would come back to Winnipeg just for this place.

This place is cash only. The charm is gone with COVID. Feels strange to order and stressful. I got a burger with lettuce, tomato, and pickle my husband got the special cheese burger and a fries with coke. The fries are the best in the city! Must be hot, the fries! Even without Gravy or enough ketchup they were great. The fries were the best value at $5.25. More then enough for two people. The chilly burger wasn’t my favorite. Too much cinnamon in the sauce but my husband enjoyed it. I believe the patties are frozen but good flavor and nice sear. Felt like an over priced cafeteria. Burgers are about $10 each

Lived in this city my whole life and driven past this place countless times. Had some time today to stop in on my way through downtown, so I thought, β€œLet’s do this!” Coming north bound, you can’t turn left, so you just have to compensate for the roadways. Not an issue, just an FYI. Parking was good, as it seems most people aren’t there very long - just getting their food and driving off with it. Not all pricing on the sign is accurate. They have updated pricing on the hand-written signs on the windows. Cost has gone up for everything, so not surprised. Stood in line with some regulars. They were talking about how people who have lived here forever and always drive by finally stop in for the first time. I smiled and raised my hand. I said, β€œThat’s me, today!” The server was very helpful regarding all my questions and I got the scoop on how to order from the regulars in line. Everyone was in a great mood, talking about the delicious food and the great weather. Cash only. I ordered a β€˜Special’ which is a cheeseburger with all the fixings, a fry (one size only) and a chocolate shake. I took the advice of one of the other patrons and got my fries in a box vs a bag as I planned to eat them in my car, en route to my destination and added vinegar and salt right at the counter. Fries were super crispy and tasty! Burger was flavourful, but the bun was completely coming apart in my hands. I had to eat it much faster than I would’ve liked and didn’t get to savour the experience. Maybe I’ll eat at the picnic tables next time, as my burger bun won’t have a chance to get too moist and crumbly. The chocolate shake was thick, which I love. Not easy to find those anymore, for some unknown reason. They had many flavours to choose from, so I might venture to get a peach one next time. Menu is pretty basic, which isn’t a bad thing. It allows them to process orders fairly quickly. An overall great experience. I plan on coming back soon!

VJs what can I say, it’s a family owned restaurant with honestly some of the best burgers in the city, it melted in my mouth and every bite was perfect, everything was proper cooked and tasted great, they gave me a free water and I gave them a decent tip for their troubles. They are friendly the staff are nice and it really has a home cooking vibe. Great job and can’t wait to go back to try more I only had a Chance to get a cheese burger but it has been my favourite burger in a long time.

Absolutely amazing, best burger I've had in a long time and I consider myself somewhat of a burger expert. I've eaten here in the past and the quality from years ago to now has increased a ton. Would give 10 stars if I could. Absolutely incredible and great prices & quanity my little man loved the fries too!

Got the VJ’s special with fries - no complaints. Great burger with fresh toppings, fries were copious and of good quality too, and the taste was very unique. Would definitely go back again.

This is one of few great experience I've ever have in the burger category in Wpg. I ordered the cheese burger. From the bread, patty, lettuce, pickles all are align with the hype that I have been hearing about, which is why I am curious and try it. However, the cheese burger is a tad too salty for my taste. On the other hand, the fries! The fries is awesome! No ketchup, no nothing.... just hot sauce, you are good to go! Even without anything, it can still compete with some fries you find in a casual family restaurants. Settings: drive-in, takeaway order. 4.5 stars! This place is cash only, unfortunately.
