Hi everyone ? I have taken my English Mastiff, Monty, to Guardian several times. If, one of your furbabies, is having a medical emergency, in Edmonton, and of course surrounding areas, this is the place you want to take them to! First of all, when you arrive, call them, and let them know you are in the parking lot. This is part of their Triage. They will quickly assess, your pets condition, symptoms, etc. They are a state of the art facility. OR rooms, absolutely everything, just like a human ER. Actually, I would sooner go there for myself, rather than the ER's in the hospitals!!! ? Back to Guardian. There is a very large parking lot, directly in front of the hospital, with several handicapped stalls. They are equipped with stretchers, if your pet is unable to walk, which is discussed when you phone. Your pet will be brought into the hospital, and placed in a assessment room. A nurse will come in, and take vitals, and information, which will be entered into the computer. A doctor will quickly review the information. Now please understand, what we consider a emergency, is very different than what a doctor does. There are levels of emergencies, the same as if you or I go to a ER. For example, a heart attack, or MVA is very different than a cut finger or paw ? ? . Your pet will be given the best hands on care I've ever seen! Rest assured!!! From the staff at the front desk, to the nurses, and ultimately the amazing doctors! I absolutely cannot say enough good about the doctors. They are all so professional, kind, compassionate! Human doctors, could learn alot, from these amazing doctors. ? Dr. Owen Clancy, thankyou for taking such great care of Monty. You are one of the nicest humans I've had the pleasure of meeting!!! I just wanted to quickly mention, this facility is beautiful. Extremely clean, and organized. Please do not hesitate to take your pet here. They will be given the best care! Take ? ?

My boy Apollo has been missing for a month and a half, was found with organ failure and severe starvation he was at ACCC about to be put down because he was in such bad shape they said, he had already been sedated and was just about to be put down when I called them and claimed him. Guardian vet was amazing, we were told they could offer the best chance at recovery for my sick boy. After reversing the sedatives he started thriving, eating and drinking and going to the bathroom normally. I 10/10 will always recommend this place no matter the price, they work miracles. Your pets will be in fantastic hands here and will be cared for to the maximum.

Just want to say thank you to the staff that helped my dog and I when I brought him in for an emergency on March 11. It was a terrifying situation for me, and my dog is reactive, so going to a new vet is an already stressful experience in itself. The staff were very kind, reassuring, and patient with an overly-stressed out mom (specifically vet-tech Heather). So thank you very much for taking care of us and making us feel comfortable.

Our experience with Guardian VCA was a largely positive one. I'm glad that we took our dog, Lou, here to receive care for her terminal cancer. The medical staff, in particular Dr Cockwill, provided a truly excellent standard of care. His medical decision-making was very reasonable and competent (which I say from the perspective of someone with a medical background), but his compassion was truly standout. He consistently impressed us with his care for Lou, who had a medically complex case (AML with multiple complications including an immune-mediated hemolytic anemia). He provided frequent updates to her care (sometimes multiple updates daily, including during his time off), was more than willing to answer our questions by email, and he demonstrated unquestionably genuine and consistent concern for our poor dog. He was upfront about his rationale and his documentation was very thorough. Costs associated with her stay were not cheap, but in reviewing the breakdown, Dr Cockwill was very judicious in the labs and treatments he performed and did not provide any unnecessary services or needlessly extend our pup's admission. I am very happy with the care he provided, and he is clearly in this out of genuine concern for animals. I would be happy to take any of my other pets to see him in the future. After her admission, Lou did very well at home before ultimately succumbing to her cancer a week later. We were happy that she was able to come home and we had the opportunity to provide a great final week for her (video included). Any negative aspects of our experience (which are largely outweighed by the positives) were confined to the nonmedical aspects of her care (reception). We found the front door staff to be kind, but disorganized at times. Prior to presenting, our regular vet was concerned about Lou's status and had contacted Guardian and sent over her files. Upon arrival, I was put on hold as the receptionist couldn't find any of her files or notes about the referral. After waiting 15 minutes, I was greeted by another employee who had to put me on hold again to find her file, as I was either forgotten about or there was a lack of communication between staff. Thankfully, the second staff member brought out water for Lou, who was stuck waiting in a hot car, and got us in as quick as she could. We had similar issues on one other occasion. We had a bit of trouble with the visitation policy, which was enforced somewhat inconsistently. I was made to wait almost an hour in a hot car with a child in it (I recently had surgery and couldn't be on my feet for long) while waiting for our dog's discharge, though we had previously had no issue with staff in accounting for extenuating circumstances in visitor limitations. We definitely didn't have issues with reception on every visit, so this may be related to specific staff or how busy things were at the time of our visits. I mention the negative aspects more as feedback for Guardian VCA, in case this is something that they are not aware of. I'm still happy to provide a 5/5 rating, as we came here for the medical care, not the reception, and that was above and beyond our expectations. We would bring our other pets over if they should need this level of care, and we would recommend this place to others.

Amazing caring and knowledgeable staff. Great care from initial consult through TPLO surgery and follow-up. The staff were all very kind and you know your pet was being loved while they were there. I did my research pre consult and felt this was the best hospital for my dog's surgery! 100% confident, I made the right choice.

My mini dachshund Cooper has had some unusual nasal issues that have been going on for three months and have been tough to resolve. I have been to Guardian at least six times as they try to figure out what is going on. I have been nothing but impressed with the service provided by all the staff I have dealt with and Dr. Flint. Whether I call for some information or email my concerns are always quickly addressed. Thank you for your great service.

Our beloved dog Daisy was dying, we were devastated. The dr, nurses, staff were so wonderful. They were caring and so very knowledgeable. I can't even put it in words how grateful I am for the care and love they showed us and especially my little shadow. I would highly recommend this place to anyone with a pet of any kind. Their 24 hour emergency veterinary clinic is a Godsend. Thank you so very much.

My pup recently suffered a case of HGE and it was terrifying - on a Friday afternoon of course. Our vet told us to take her to Guardian VCA. They were so good! They called me with everything they knew and each time gave me options for care, explained next steps and the need for them and tried to help me make wise choices as the bill obviously adds up quickly. It's a given that the care is costly but they do keep that in mind and walk you through it. They got her hydrated and on the road to recovery with the right meds and excellent care. They were patient with me when I called and the vet tech even sent me a pic of her (below). She was a very sick pooch but they recognized that she would get better faster at home and they were right. She is now almost fully recovered and I am so thankful they were able to straighten her system out. Thankful for their care!
