Well worth the trip. The last part of the gravel logging road has many holes and bumps so take your time. A car can do it just slow. There are 2 hikes. One to upper Avatar grove..medium to difficult trail which is about 20 minute hike and takes you to the knarliest tree.. We had small kids and they did it fine. The other trail is lower Avatar grove which we will save for our next trip and takes 30 minutes rated mild. Great time was had by all.

Definitely recommend visiting here and finding the gnarliest tree! It is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. It’s not a difficult hike but definitely wear good shoes/boots with grips!

Beautiful hiking trails, some of the last old growth you'll be able to see. I'd say this trail is more intermediate as there's lots of incline, but most of it is marked and has a boardwalk/stairs.

One word: AMAZING - worth the gravel road drive. Short hike is a bit uphill and was slippery when wet. To see these 900year old giants was priceless

I'd avoid coming here if you have a small car, because the roads are terrible. Bring good hiking boots. The trail on the south side isn't very clear, but the trees are amazing.

Very magical and majestic. Drive from Port Renfrew is pretty easy. Only gets bumpy after crossing Gordon River. Some of the bridges are broken in both upper and lower but still passable with good hiking shoes.

Awesome huge forest with lots of amazing locations for you to take pictures. Unique sensation when you mingle around these nature giants, very inspiring! The road lead to the trail head was terrible though, lots of pot holes, just be patience when you drive, it took about 25 minutes.

The road is not maintained to get to… huge pot holes & 50+ trees fallen over the road. Trail is also not maintained, lots of fallen trees over the path. Hike was beautiful, very cool old trees! It’s not worth the drive in my opinion.
