About Travelodge Hotel by Wyndham Medicine Hat

The Travelodge story began when building contractor Scott King opened the King’s Auto Court motel in San Diego to coincide with the 1935 World’s Fair. The popularity of the fair resulted in the motel being fully booked for all of 1935.

With the success of King’s Auto Court, Scott recognized the need for guests to stay close to their next great adventure. Leveraging his own background as a contractor, Scott decided to expand, and opened 24 locations across Southern California over the next five years.

In 1940, the first motel named Travelodge was opened and, in 1954, the brand’s Ambassador of Adventure — Sleepy Bear — was introduced. Then, in 1973, the first Travelodge opened in Canada in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Today, the brand has now grown to over 100 locations across Canada from Victoria, British Columbia to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and over 4,000 locations worldwide. Travelodge continues to embrace adventure, just as we did in 1935. With locations near downtown centres, beaches, National Parks, hockey rinks and everything in between, Travelodge accommodates adventure seekers of all ages. Plan your next adventure, then book the Travelodge next door. Your basecamp awaits.

Things we enjoyed: Friendly staff The pool Breakfast had a great spread Room had two doors one entering the hotel, one to the parking lot. Comfy beds 60 inch flat screen in room $89/night for two queen bed room If you aren't okay with a dated but well maintained hotel don't stay here. We got exactly what we expected for the price. Would stay again.

Dog hair on everything, wifi didn't work, bathroom was disgusting and the floor was black and full of hair in the corners. Air-conditioning on low and button removed so you can't turn it up. Not recommend staying here unless you have a big dog. Full of hugh barking dogs.

Horrible. Deceptive pricing, no communication. Sorry and run down. Go elsewhere for better rates and nicer accommodation quality.

Stayed here with my kids and they had an amazing time at the kid pool and water slide. I noticed the pool could defiantly use a bit of TLC but my husband and I found humor in it and appreciated it if that makes sense. Rooms were decent for the price and the Indian restaurant downstairs was delicious! Cant help but wonder what this building used to be before it was a Travelodge as it gives off a church vibe in the pool area but maybe that's just how it was designed but gave us some food for thought while we sat in hottub. Amazing staff very helpful and kind.

To be totally fair the hotel was in the middle of changing from a Travelodge to a Clarion points when I stayed there. The room only had a shower not a tub which I did not see when I booked it I don't believe it was listed as such. The breakfast was a bag that you collect from the front desk due to covid, even though covid restrictions have been relaxed a couple days earlier. They probably didn't have time to switch to a normal breakfast as of that time, likely as they were busy with the renovations. There were a couple of minor cleanliness issues small stain on the curtain and such but nothing major. The pool area no longer has the world's largest indoor water slide, instead they have one that's about half the size it used to be. The original pool is still there and most of the water features are not functioning like due to age. The hot tub had a posted warning that it was 40 degrees Celsius in the water but the temperature was probably closer to about 25 degrees Celsius maybe 30. Many of the ice machines were missing probably due to the renos. We had to walk all the way to the office area to get ice. In fairness we were warned about this when we booked in. All in all I wouldn't say it was a bad stay at the hotel but it desperately needs a lot more of the renovations that are currently going on to be completed.

This Travelodge missed the mark on comfort, and unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel. The perks here were the team members, and fantastic water park. The downsides I experienced were unbearably soft beds, overbooked pool times, a complete lack of breakfast, and a bare bones room. I truly wanted to love it here, and hope that my next stay at a Travelodge is more organized.

Rooms were nice and clean, a big smart TV in the suite, fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Newly renovated I believe, the pool was nice, only 1 meter deep so most kids are comfortable in it, there's a toddler pool, & hot tub. Also vending machine in lobby. They allowed me to bring a few friends with kids in to swim as well. Oh, and there's a small gym with free weights, elliptical, bike and a cable machine. Great place to stay. Will be staying here again next time my family's in town.

I find hotels with an outside entrance to your room very convenient when travelling with a dog. Our room also had an entrance to the inside of the hotel, which was nice for accessing the pool. The front desk personnel was very pleasant. The price was great even with a pet fee. They are currently renovating the rooms which was nice. Also conveniently located off the highway, especially when travelling with a trailer.Giving a 4 because the pool needs some updating. It seems the liner needs to be replaced as it was flaking and the water slide had some scratch points.
