Toast Culture opened it’s doors in the spring of 2019 from a concept developed by Josh Wilhelm & Joel Margolus with the idea to offer satisfying, scratch made food & inviting customer service. In spite of the looming pandemic it has been able to adapt and grow, establishing itself as a popular eatery in the Oliver neighborhood.

Now fully owned/operated by Josh, a chef who ran the kitchen at Jack’s Grill before heading out to Victoria to become head chef at Bubby’s Kitchen, a very popular restaurant known for its devotion to sustainable food practice, the use of fresh local ingredients and making everything from scratch. In 2014 Josh launched Coast Lunch Box in Victoria; a west coast inspired food truck & catering co that now services the greater Edmonton area.

We have partnered and sourced wonderful artisan breads from Bon Ton bakery, locally roasted coffee from the Colombian, the best craft breweries and a variety of local purveyors of fresh vegetables and charcuterie.

Me and my friend had a last minute decision for brunch at 1pm, not many places open until we arrive. So we chose here, and the food surprised us. Nice customer service and environment as well. Enjoyed.

Go early as the restaurant seating is not that large but cozy none the less. We ordered coffee and a mocha to warm ourselves up from being outside in the cold wind. We ordered an... Avocado BLT (Meuwly’s capicola, arugula, tomato, guacamole & basil aioli on sourdough) Culture Breakfast (2 Poached Eggs, Pico De Gallo, Herb Roast Potatoes, Toast & Choice of Rosemary Fennel Sausage, Honey Ham or Avocado) I chose the fennel sausage and what flavor!! Culture Benny (2 poached eggs, capicola ham, arugula, pico & rosemary hollandaise on sourdough toast with herb roasted potatoes) Buttermilk Waffles (Topped with house made jam, maple syrup & fresh berries) We all tasted the different dishes and everything was delicious and fresh! We are definitely going back to try the other menu items!

The truffle potato pizza was also good, but lacks a bit of the extra flavour that I was hoping for. Otherwise, the decor is very trendy and modern. Will visit again!

They were quite receptive and accommodating of our baby stroller and there is more than ample parking out front on the weekends (and on the side streets on the weekdays). Coat hanger is available at the front and under the table for the bar chairs. I ordered the Culture Breakfast with the sausage. Eggs were perfect and the sausage seasoned optimally. Potatoes were also grilled nicely without being too cooked.

A yummy in house made Thai cashew dressing with cucumbers, peppers, carrots, onions, pea shoots & avocado!! It’s not best photo but it tastes amazing! Hubby loves their pizza!
