About The Palace Theatre

A THEATRE THAT NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION

Built during the golden age of movie houses, The Palace Theatre first opened it's doors in 1921.

Home to films, vaudeville acts, and orchestra performances, the Palace Theatre was also the site of the first public radio broadcast in Calgary. With it’s elaborate plaster ceilings, elegant exterior and grand marble staircases, the Palace quickly became known as the most beautiful theatre in Canada and was declared a National historic site in 1996.

We have put time and care into the renovations of the new Palace Theatre, ensuring the historical character of the building is maintained. This multi-function venue will be home to everything from concerts, musical performances, seminars, symposiums & corporate events, with our state-of-the art cinema sound system and in-house catering ensuring every event will be memorable.

Great venue, great gig last night. Unfortunately the tall girl serving at the top bar was the rudest person ive ever met. Seemd to take issue with my friend asking where the bathroom was (we have accents so i thought maybe it was a misunderstanding) Poured the most miserable free hand measure of whiskey ive ever seen. (I work in a bar i know the difference between an oz and quarter of an oz) when asked about it she just grunted at me about it being free hand so i "probably" got more. The bar tenders at the lower bar were awesome, used an actual measure to pour my drink super friendly, found it funny their colleagues were trying to short peoples drinks!

Sowed up to see a convert the other night only to find out it was cancelled. Zero notification from the website and the doors were just closed. There was nothing on them stating what had happened either. And I wasn't alone. There were dozens of other people that has showed up too. I've seen other shows here and they were pretty good but what a poor display of ownership this particular time. It costs a lot to make your way downtown and plan not to drive only to be turned away at the door

Amazing venue, probably the best place I have been for live music in my 15 years in Calgary. Blows the Saddledome out of the water. Big enough to hold a popular band but small enough for it to feel intimate. Drinks are definitely over priced but we're isn't. 100% best music experience you can get in Calgary. Anywhere in the building is a good seat but if you want the best experience go early and get a booth at the front of the second balcony. Bar is 5 steps away and your comfortable with a amazing view of the stage. 10/10 in my books.

Had a great time here at the clutch show. Beautiful venue with original marble and fixtures. Nice acoustics and a very cool vibe. I enjoyed floor and balcony views! Security did an excellent job diffusing an aggressive / angry patron that needed to be removed. I watched them dragging him outside, then ending the interaction with a hug. Skills!

Pretty decent live venue. Not a huge fan of the second balcony remodel but it's a minor grievance. Bar staff were fast, efficient. I didn't use the washroom so can't speak to those.

Great little venue for concerts, it's a bit cramped as the floor is pretty small overall but the sound and shows I've seen have all been great. There is always a line that runs a block outside the building so if it's winter be prepared for that! But the staff are really efficient about cycling through people here compared to other venues I've been to so not too bad.
