Located in 'Port Arthur', one block from Lake Superior and even closer to the unique art, entertainment and culinary infusion that is the north shore. Our main mission is to have our guests having the best local experience possible. Superseding backpacker haven's far and wide, let us set you on the right adventure.
This massive 8000 square foot building offers an affordable and exciting group/team and event experience, while also boasting Bohemian Chic styled private hotel rooms right in Thunder Bay’s downtown core. The hostel is Inspired by first hand hostel experiences in the United Kingdom and Central America, complete with the first ever POD style dormitories in Ontario! Our mandate is to take all that we know of our city, surrounding areas and wild travel experiences, and share them with our guests, and maybe even participate.
Despite COVID-19 we have battled one of the biggest storms to date! Yet we have come out stronger and safer than ever. Over the past four years we are proud to say we have seen visitors from over 50 countries. Now we have seen even more beautiful domestic travelers going deeper into the mystique of this massive country we call home. Whatever the case may be, let our family help you rock your travel experience in whatever way the world allows.

Rates are very affordable, service is great and the room was very comfortable .
Stay here when in T Bay. Nuff said !!

The entire space, which is massive with lots of natural light, is kept exceptionally clean and organized. I can't imagine there is a better place to stay and meet nice people while in Thunder Bay!

I had my first stay at the Haven Hostel recently and could not recommend it more highly!! The space has a relaxed atmosphere and clean well kept rooms. A great addition to the community of Thunder Bay.

We rented the Hostel out to accommodate a large group of people for an event and everyone was so impressed with their stay! The staff was very welcoming and friendly and the owner Holly went above and beyond to accommodate us. She answered all of our questions and ensured we had a great experience. She even brought us more firewood so we could enjoy their front fire pit patio! We will definitely be returning to the Haven Hostel. A true gem in Thunder Bay!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you're looking for a good priced, family oriented place that has a atmosphere like no other, this is the place! My fiance and i only stayed for one night. The room was gorgeous and super clean! The smell is calming and the staff are the sweetest beans I've ever met in my life and the view from our window in the morning was fantastic! I would definitely go back again!
Hats off to the staff , you guys do a incredible job at keeping this place maintained and keeping your guests happy, welcomed and safe! ?
