I had some major ripples in my upstairs carpet which was not a repair that i would ever think that i needed to be done, but since i couldn't close my doors without rubbing on the carpet, you have to get it done. The work was completed for a reasonable price and comes with a guarantee. I had to vacuum up afterwards which i really didn't mind as his prices were lower than the competition, and it enabled me to get a real close look at the work (which appears to be done quite well). Apparently rippling is quite common in new home construction, and I was really surprised how much the carpet had to be stretched to remove the waves. (another reason never to buy a new home again)

I consulted The Carpet Repair Guys as the landlord of the apartment our daughter and roommates are leaving is asking them to pay a full month's rent for carpet damage done to 2 doorways by pets (over $2200). We personally replaced the damaged patches, but it does look like patchwork (difficult to match the pile - original installed on diagonal). Even if we called the experts (a.k.a. Patrick) in, it still wouldn't be perfect as the carpet is a very low pile (Berber). We are currently offering the landlord the cost of having Patrick come in to redo the patches ($300) towards full carpet replacement. We doubt he will, but we think it's fair. Patrick has provided advice and even took it upon himself to find the carpet - which happens to be on sale at Home Depot. If the landlord does not accept, we may go down the route to having some actual work done by Patrick. Thank you for your support Patrick - you are a very good Samaritan. Very grateful that there are some nice people out there!
