The Canmore Hotel Hostel

Came back from being out on the town only to find all of my belongings thrown on the floor and someone in the bed I paid for. All other beds except for one had either someone sleeping in them, or someone's belongings who had clearly been using the bed. had to leave and book another hotel at 12 am and when the hostel was contacted, staff was very rude to the point where police had to be involved just to get our money back. When I was on the phone with staff explaining the situation, I was told that they weren't going to deal with this anymore and that no refund was going to be issued, followed up by the staff member hanging up the phone in the middle of me talking. Overall, was the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. If you want a half decent place to stay in Canmore, look elsewhere.

Stayed here for two nights in a room with two single beds and shared the bathroom with the rest of the hostel. After booking the rooms, I was sent door key codes for entry to the hostel as well as the room. Rooms and kitchen / dining area are on the second floor, pretty clean and neat although the stove area was really small and cramped, did not work when a lot of people were there. Two refrigerators which was convenient. Room was small, had lockers, and a fan. Beds were alright, kept rolling a bit and creaking though. The door closed super slowly. Bathrooms were clean, showers were really small though and didn't really have space to change, thankfully didn't really see other people while in the bathroom. Wifi information wasn't posted anywhere, asked another person in the hostel for it. Hallway made a lot of echo and sound when people walked by and also from people hanging out in the dining room area, which made for not a great space to sleep. Also, my bank account showed an extra $10 charge from the hostel and I never got notified about it from the hostel itself. I'm guessing this charge came because the laundry door was open and we used the laundry - apparently we missed the sign on the door that said staff only. Well, if it's staff only, why is the laundry room always open? Lock it then and don't send us random charges after the fact.

Amazing experience! We accidentally booked the wrong night and Trevor was so understanding and accommodating! Our private room exceeded expectations and was very clean and tidy. The common areas provide a welcoming atmosphere and the shared kitchen is super convenient for anyone who wants to make and store their home cooked meals! Overall, incredible staff and a wonderful place to stay. Highly recommend for anyone interested in learning about some of the history of Canmore as well. My partner and I will definitely be returning the next time we’re in town.

We visited the Canmore Hotel Pub in November 7 for cocktails and a snack to help celebrate my brother in laws 60th birthday! We had a great time thanks to the best server ever, Molly! She was engaging and full of life as well as a great singing voice! She blessed us with 2 rounds of Happy Birthday and the highlight to our weekend! Thanks for helping us celebrate Bob’s special day!!

Absolutely horrible experience. Didn't even end up staying the two nights I paid for. First of all, the code for getting into room 10 didn't work (I tried it 5 times at least), and as I entered the hostel there was a very intoxicated man sitting on the couch, who then proceeded to make a very uncalled for comment underneath his breath. I felt very unsafe and it was not a cleanly, nor comfortable environment to be in. Tried calling the phone line to report the aforementioned, and no one would pick up.

Took the queen room with bathroom. Very clean, nice bathroom, but... the floor had a very significant slope: so much so that it's difficult to sleep as we tend to roll sideways in bed, especially since the bed isn't great and the center tends to cave in...

We didn't get to stay....but the way our cancellation (due to cancelled flights because of a winter storm) was handled was by far the best experience we've had. We have rebooked because the customer service was excellent. We are looking forward to coming in May instead. We were contacted personally to work out details...you'd NEVER get that from a big hotel chain. They didn't have to do anything...but they did. And that's why we stuck with them. Thank you for your excellent customer service. That level of service is rare, if non-existent.

We stayed in the DQ room for 2 nights and the stay was beyond our expectations. Trevor went above and beyond to explain the accommodations and to welcome us to Canmore. With the stay we had discounts for some restaurants and retail stores in town. The room and bathroom were so clean. The bathroom had supplied shampoo and conditioner. The shared kitchen had everything you needed to cook a meal there if you wanted. Clean pots, pans, microwave, fridge, stove, and recycling. Extra bath towels were there if needed. We were impressed by how clean everything was kept up. Will recommend stay there to friends and will be back. To be in such a Historical Hotel in downtown Canmore for the price, is amazing. There was a mural and information about the history of the hotel on a huge wall as you walk in. To be within walking distance to everything Canmore has to offer is priceless. Really enjoyed the stay…… rooms so clean, quiet, well equipped kitchen, great location and friendly atmosphere! Thank you!!
