Always great. We have been here many times. This time we just stopped by for a couple of drinks and an appetizer. By the way, we just tried the calamari. It was awesome…probably the most tender calamari we have had in years. Melissa was our waitress. She was very attentive and a great server.

We had a Celebration of Life event for a friend their last night. Everything went fantastically well. Great food, fantastic servers, very nice event space downstairs, it was just wonderful. Everyone had a great time and I'm certain many will return after our very successful event! Jim and his brother made sure, everything was going right many times throughout the event. Everyone, left very happy! I'd happily recommend their space to become, your space!

A generally inoffensive restaurant with okay prices and food you won't be upset at, but won't rave about either. Nothing special, but won't do you wrong either. Girlfriend and I got a classic Eggs Benedict and a smoked salmon Benedict (an Eggs Benjamin). Skip the Benjamin, get the classic back bacon instead.

I arrived unannounced and I was promptly seated at a quiet table by a window. Ordered my medium rare strip loin steak and fries w vegetables. Friendly service, very flavourful food in a pleasant pub atmosphere.

When I chose this place for my birthday dinner I did so thinking it would be an enjoyable experience like the times I had been there in the past. I was wrong. We were seated on the side with a totally packed bar full of people literally screaming over each other. There’s another side that is quiet so I’m not sure why we were stuck in there. As for the service, the server who was dedicated to our table was nice and I have no issues with her at all. The owner on the other hand needs to relax. When my friend took her first bite of the chicken wrap she ordered and cut the roof of her mouth on a chicken bone we waited 10 minutes to be able to flag someone down. Unfortunately, we flagged down the owner who decided it would be appropriate to argue with my friend that it wasn’t the restaurants fault as they order boneless chicken breasts. As if the staff in the kitchen have no responsibility to inspect the food they’re preparing to make sure it’s safe. He then came back a few minutes later to argue some more, and at this point he ruined the already not great experience. The server asked if they could replace my friends food with something else (after I had already finished my meal) and they brought her the macaroni and cheese, which was alright, but then they had the audacity to come and let her know that they were going to do her the great service of not up charging her the extra dollar for the second dish they had to make her after serving her something dangerous that cut her. I will never be returning to this place and I highly suggest you find somewhere else to go.

The Blake House is a hidden gem in downtown Toronto. With a wood burning fireplace, great food, and a cozy intimate atmosphere in such a spacious and beautiful restaurant, this is the ONLY place I want to hangout over the upcoming winter months. The carrot and ginger soup was the best soup I’ve ever had in my life and I’d come back for it alone, the vegetarian spring rolls were surprisingly amazing and came with a perfect sweet chilli sauce, the mac and cheese was delicious and filling, and my friend loved their steak dinner. Bonnie, our server and the restaurant’s bartender was unbelievably kind, welcoming, and made us feel extremely well taken care of! It’s not often in Toronto that you get such amazing service, so when you do it really stands out! Bonnie answered all my questions about the vegetarian options on the menu and even thought of better ones like asking the kitchen if they made the mac and cheese with chicken broth, which they don’t (it’s all vegetarian) but how kind and considerate for even thinking about that! She was going above and beyond with her service without ever once seeming strained to do so and it made the night so comfortable, fun, and enjoyable! I will request to sit in Bonnie’s section again next time if it’s possible!

A great family run resto in a beautiful historic Jarvis Street house. What keeps me going are the cheap good drinks and rustic and fun atmosphere. Oh, and the awesome patio!

Friendly service. Good food. However for my Caesar I expected one with garnishes rather than just plain like in the photo. Really wishes like a pickle or celery was in it. But the salmon Benedict was very good.
