After a few back and forth emails, Peter had told me he'd look into the pricing and availability and that it would take a few days in order to determine shipping costs. The next day, I get an email in the morning saying that he was not going to "spend anymore time" on my inquiry because I was "requesting pricing from multiple dealers," and then instead of giving me a quote for shipping on what I wanted, he quoted me on something completely different which was not my style at all just because it was in stock. Customers will always request pricing from multiple shops in order to find the best pricing for themselves. Peter doesn't seem to know this and ignored me after his last email. I ended up buying from another store after dealing with his rudeness.

After a miserable experience online, I looked for a Canadian "brick and mortar" retailer. I found Peter and the Teak Boutique. The customer service was old school: personal, considerate, and absolutely honest. Despite 2021 being the year of shortages due to CoVid supply chain issues, Peter was able to to get me the most beautiful modular teak sectional. He oiled it for me and oiled two tables as well. I paid to have it delivered down to Windsor expecting a hired guy with a moving truck. But Peter insisted on delivering it himself (with Muscle by John). In the middle of a pandemic. That is customer service. Good teak furniture is expensive, no doubt. But it is also evergreen - it’s always in style, it lasts forever. It builds character as it goes. Calling it “patio furniture” understates the beauty and quality of these pieces. They are heirloom quality. Working with Peter to realize my teak dream in the summer of CoVid restored my faith that there are still specialty retailers with the passion, knowledge and skills to get things done right the first time.
