We have been trying to adopt a pup from this rescue. After telling us that she had the perfect dog for our family, Kelly won't return our call, reply to any texts or confirm that she has recieved our application for the dog. This is no way to run a rescue. We understand that the world is running differently these past few weeks but the least she can do is return a call. I would not recommend this rescue. I hope the dogs find a home but that's tough to do when the rescue does not contact the people.

Kelly is one of the most amazing humans I’ve ever met. I was put in a unique situation of trying to help a pup and ended up feeling hopeless and frustrated. Kelly came in and rescued both me and the pup we were trying to help. She has a special bond with dogs that you can see almost instantly and I was in awe when I saw her with the troubled pup we had. Her rescue is there to help animals in need and that is exactly what they do. I would highly recommend Tails as they not only have the knowledge and understanding but also have the love and compassion for the animals they rescue.

I adopted a dog with my wife and kids and was one of the best experiences in Calgary for dog adoptions. The cofounder was easy to talk with and answered all our questions even the stupid dog ones. I highly recommend everyone check out Tails for adoptions as we will be back to adopt our second within the next year. Alexandra also answered questions late at night when most places don't even get back to you. Thank you for pairing us with such a wonderful companion and working with now named Loki. Without you our house wouldn't be the same.

I strongly advise supporting another rescue. I don't believe that it's the dogs who are the misunderstood, it's select individuals who run this organization and their lack of communication. We chose to support this rescue because it was communicated to us that we could take 7 days with the dog to assess the fit with our home, and our other rescue dog that we had at home. If there was a legitimate concern during those 7 days we could surrender the dog and be refunded the full adoption fee. During those 7 days our other dog became very ill and we had to surrender the new rescue. Our dog passed away 2 months later, we had still not seen a refund of the adoption fee. After many reminders and a few excuses we finally did and it was not the full amount as communicated. I understand that this organization is probably kept afloat by kind donations and adoption fees which probably don't even come close to covering the costs incurred to help these animals. For an organization who's purpose is built around integrity, you showed little to those who are trying to support you. I am, and will continue to support this cause but I cannot support this rescue. I believe Aleksandra is honest, I cannot say the same for the rest of the organization.

We have not only fostered, but also adopted from Tails Of the Misunderstood. The foster to adopt process was easy and we love our dog, he is a wonderful addition to our home. Both Kelly and Alex have gone above and beyond with any questions or concerns we have ever had, with not only our adopted dog, foster dogs, but also our personal dogs that have no association with the rescue. Kelly not only assisted us with our dog when he got quilled at nosehill park, she shut down her store to help us rush him to the vet, above and beyond the call of duty. Fostering is great, they always make sure to provide us with fosters that are the correct match for our home, and any necessary items. We have other dogs and two young children, and they are always conscious of matching us with the right dog. Our foster dogs always attend adoption events which the rescue, until covid, held regularly, and we often have fast turn over with the dogs we foster as they often find their perfect forever homes at these events. We also had Kelly and Alex provide dogs that were available for adoption at our wedding, they did a wonderful job of wrangling all the dogs and made our wedding day extra special. This is a rescue that will treat you like family and not just send you home with a dog without follow up.

Emailed and left a voicemail inquiring about a dog. Never heard back. Website also has not been updated in over a month. Thanks Alexandra for your reply. The recent website update is nice but it did sit with no updates for a month and showed Champ as still available for adoption. With no current dogs available I find it had to believe you’re getting hundreds of applications at the moment. If dogs are adopted taking them off the website may decrease the volume of Unnecessary emails you’re receiving. Other agencies are not only emailing potential adopters back but giving them a phone call - this is above and beyond great service and shows people that their interest in adopting a pet is appreciated and acknowledged. Take good care.

I adopted my pup in September of 2020, at first Kelly was great to work with and she brought Shana (now named Olive) over to meet my other dog and see how she would acclimate to our home. Unfortunately, it's been well over a year and I still don't have olive's complete medical records, no matter how many times I have tried to make contact or which avenue (texts, calls, email enquires via the website and Facebook messages). Adopting a dog or puppy is great, but the lack of professionalism and communication is beyond frustrating. Please make a better system for future adopters.

We had been looking at several rescues in and around Calgary, and I'm so glad that we were able to adopt our new family member from Tails of the Misunderstood. The process (application, first phone call, home check, meeting the pup, adoption, and follow-up) was prompt, professional, and thorough. It was always clear that the well being of the animals and making sure that they were finding their best forever homes was the top priority.
