Its a small rescue, but it does help. Also those who think negatively about this place, why don't you go and see the rescue before you decide to hate it

A few days ago I wrote a review on Reptiles Rock’s Facebook page, it was removed- in fact, to avoid ANY negative reviews, Tom has had the reviews section removed from Facebook altogether. Doing this, he removed not only my negative review but those of other people. Tom doesn’t want people seeing that it isn’t the wonderful place that he would like you to believe. He had both negative and positive reviews from people who had dealt with him in his ‘rescue’ as well, people such as myself, who simply watch his live feeds and read his posts on a regular basis and see the irresponsible husbandry. When someone makes an observation comment that Tom deems as being ‘negative’ (those are his words) he simply removes the comments. Part of being a responsible rescue and educator is allowing those comments and then actually having a mature discussion on it and explaining why you do what you do, so that your viewers can make their minds up with as many facts as possible. Educators don’t simply delete what they don’t want to hear just because they don’t agree with you. That’s called censorship. People who delete comments that are educational and not personal attacks typically do so out of fear; they know they can’t support their facts, and don’t want to be challenged. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, Tom! I’m attaching jpgs of my original review, along with my comments when he says that I need to understand the background info. ( I’m paraphrasing as I don’t have his comment because I can only retrieve my own comments on FB)

I don’t usually review but here it goes…I was looking for a rescue so I could adopt a new bearded dragon and someone suggested I check out these guys. So I went to theIr FB page to check them out. I thought it was super odd of them to make a video telling people that some of their animals were being seized because they shouldn’t have them in the first place and then telling their followers to call bylaw and say good things, who does that? The guy also seemed to bag on young people, like they couldn’t possibly know as much as him. Im younger and took offence to that. As I went through more FB posts I was put off by all their requests for donations. Their whole operation looks sketch to me. I decided to keep looking elsewhere. I really didn’t like the videos I watched either- Everything just looks very unprofessional to me, but what do I know, I’m younger than him.

Beat rescue in town. Great prices when buying reptiles and great people to help if you can no longer care for your reptiles. Tom and Jen are great human beings and will help anyway possible. Had them for my nieces birthday party and they were so good and the animals they brought out were so gentle and loving. This rescue has to be the best in ottawa! Highly recommend

We are so impressed and pleased with the Reptiles Rock bday presentation. It's clear that they are highly knowledgeable in all the animals in their care. The resuce work they do is quite amazing. We will continue supporting this great rescue organization.

I had a very sick bearded dragon I wrote Reptiles Rock on messager. Tom asked me to call him right away even though it was 9 in the evening he gave me incredible advice that helped save my dragon on top of it Tom even offered to take in my dragon so he could watch over her. There are not many people especially in my area that know much about reptile care. having Tom available to offer help with any questions I might have is invaluable. It shows he knows his stuff and really cares about all reptiles Reptiles Rock really does ROCK ??? thanks Tom

The conditions from which their lizards are in is horrendous. Lizards are kept in "bonded" pairs as posted on their various social media posts - which is completely unacceptable. It's a shame to see a reptile rescue hinder their animals more than "help" them as they claim. Many rescues have tried to reach out and provide correct information to them, but are just met with attacks and inaccurate testimony. Overall just a very hostile, and not-animal-friendly environment.
