Helping other breeds of dogs as they can too. Second to no other organization for adoption success rates. 100% in over 10 years of operating, and now 98% as BHRR goes through year 25. Always helping the next in need, animals are provided a safe haven for life if they are deemed unadoptable for medical and/or behavioural reasons. Small, integrity filled, quality over quantity.

Without question, with complete transparency and with immense love, these animals are brought into a life that they deserve. Whether it be because an owner can no longer care for their pet or whether it be because someone has chosen to disrespect an animal to a point of hurting it, BHHR gives that pet the opportunity to have a good life for no matter how long that may be. They give every instance careful thought and consideration and always wish they could take on more. The first priority of every member of this family are the animals they care for despite the fact that this care may mean thousands and thousands of dollars and hours and hours of time, they begrudge them not one dollar and not one second. They are educated and knowledgeable about animals and the care that they need. They know how to train dogs in extreme situations like blind and deaf Danes. And, they are tough when it comes time to let them go for adoption for good reason. Perhaps if someone had been tough in choosing Autumn's previous people, she would have had a different life. In the end she had BHRR and despite what she had to deal physically, she was loved, real hard for as long as she could be. BHRR says, they all deserve a chance to live and have a good life no matter how slim that chance may be or how long that life has left. We should all be so lucky!!!

They are a knowledgeable team that work endlessly with special needs Giant Breeds that would benefit from their specialized programs. The dogs in their care are treated as beloved members of their home or approved foster home. Birch Haven Rescue & Rehabilitation promotes responsible pet ownership through training, educating, community awareness. They are involved in therapy and service dog training and work. The needs of the animal is what BHRR is all about!

As someone who has worked in rescue for many years, adopted many rescues, and assisted in puppy mill seizure rehabilitation, I have been blown away by the kindness, dedication, and selflessness of the owners and volunteers. These animals are nursed back to health from some of the worst situations. The owners have a thorough and beautiful adoption process that honours the safety of the dogs and will not settle just to get a dog in a home. Thank you for being an example of what a rescue should be. I wish you all, human and fur babies, many years of success and love.

Birch Haven Rescue and Rehabilitation have always put the dogs first and foremost. Each animal that comes in is evaluated, loved and cared for. They are matched with the right homes that are a good fit for the dogs to ensure their success. The haven program also ensures that dogs that stay with the rescue want for nothing and will be taken care of for the rest of their lives. Some people may not understand that this is not a “dump and lump” place and it is also not a revolving door to get dogs out as fast as possible. Here, the well being of dogs come first and foremost above all else. Proud to be involved with this organization.
