Went to this location for birthday dinner. If you want bad food and pay jacked prices then this is the place to go. Staff were very friendly, but the food was just awful. We usually go to the location in Guelph and the food is always great, so we thought we give the Waterloo location a try. Ordered the spinach cheese dip. Looked nothing like it was suppose to and tasted like garbage. My strawberry daiquiri was just crushed ice with no flavour. Couldn’t even drink it. The chicken Cesar wrap was super soggy lettuce. My husband ordered the curry bowl. Said it was bad as well. Will not ever be going back to this location and wouldn’t recommend it.

The price and presentation of this franchise set up certain taste expectations that consistently fail to deliver. The food usually tastes good enough to get through about 3/4 of a meal, but you may get sick of it before you're done. Whenever I have a craving for the genre of food that Symposium provides but I don't feel like cooking, I've found that prepackaged grocery store foods taste much better at more affordable prices. If Symposium was much cheaper - or tasted much better - they'd get 5 stars.

Wonderful experience! Greeted at the door by the manager and escorted out to the patio. Server was prompt and polite. He recommended the fries and they did not disappoint! Desserts were fantastic too. Definitely go back !

Very friendly staff, but would not recommend the food. Sour spinach dip, average pasta and sandwich. Overly expensive considering the quality of the food and how the food is presented.

Have been a few times now and enjoyed it quite a bit. This last time we went was very disappointing. Ordered breakfast on Sunday. Eggs Benedict tasted incredibly vinegary. And to me the fried potatoes tasted like they came out of old oil. I understand they were busy and short staffed so we were prepared for waiting, But the issue came with not getting stuff we were asking for. Had to ask for any condiments for the toast. Had to asked for salt and pepper. Got coffee with no cream sugar or milk. Had to ask for that. Still never got a spoon to stir it with. That being said, my partners omelet was very good. But she was less impressed with the garlic sauce that she had previously enjoyed a lot. I like to allow for staff shortages but I was so disappointed. Especially after having had very nice meals here before.

One of our favorite places to go! Food is delicious, portions are generous and the staff is great! I had a buttered chicken bowl and my hubby had salmon with spinach and linguini. Both were wonderful. They are famous for their decadent desserts, although today I passed that up for a specialty B52 coffee!

We went in at a time when they weren't busy at all. Greeted by a server in training, she was lovley. Server switched 2 more times and the food we got was... It was just bad. The chicken strips where so over done they were elastics and our friends poutine was hourendous. He ended sending it back as the fries were hardly cooked. I tried sending back these god awful chicken fingers and the supervisor tried to say "we can't take them back as they were at the table for 15 min" even though I waited 10 min for them to bring out the right sauce that's supposed to come out with the chicken tenders. They ended up replacing them... They were still awful, ur better off getting tenders from Any other fast food joint. It's sad as the symposium in uptown waterloo is such a higher standard of cooking. You can tell by the pictures that these tenders are not only over cooked but also cooked in a oil that no doubt has not been changed in a long time. Disappointing.

I've been going to this Symposium every now and then since it opened years ago. Always a friendly staff and classic decor so it's a good place to go hangout and enjoy some desserts. As always their cake was great, slightly pricey but worth the bucks. I think they can work on their coffees though, I've actually never had food here only coffees and desserts, these alone are worth 4 stars for me, if coffee gets better I would rate it higher.
