First time we ordered from Lin Garden in Waterloo and it was a big mistake!!! Lin Garden is like the McDonalds of Chinese restaurants, but we would have been way better off going to McDonalds. The soup was like water and had no taste to it. Way over priced for basically hot water. The egg roles were doughy but not really edible. My combo meal was basically instant rice out of the package, mixed with green peppers and a few slices of meat. Not very tasty, way too much green peppers which wasnt in the description and not much food for the price. My wife's meal combo contained a large amount of broccoli. It wasnt cook , and she was unable to eat her meal. Her watery veg chicken soup went down the toilet. The dry noodles for the soup were stale, the first time we ever had stale noodles at a chinese restaurant in over 30 years. I wouldnt ever go back to this place, even if it were for free.

I get take out from here at least once a month and have always enjoyed the food. I find many of the other Chinese places around the city have bland, tasteless food, but at Lin's everything has lots of flavour. The food is fresh and the prices good. They're always super friendly and helpful. They are right across the street from a high school and the place is always packed with students at lunch. If teenagers keep coming back - then you know it's got to be good!

Great chinese food at reasonable prices. Lunch special is probably not worth it if you are not a hungry student as it only has few pieces of meat and a lot of rice. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and everyone was so nice and friendly. Dumplings were beyond amazing.

The portion of food is small, and for the Lunch special:Sesame chicken, Only the rice and chicken! No any vegetable on side! Not like other Chinese restaurant in Waterloo will offer you soup, spring roll, or a can of pop etc., on lunch special. To be honest, the taste of food is not bad, but still make me feel disappointed. As the owner reply, so I change my review as well, yes. you play the trick on you Menu. On the menu says the price of lunch special is $6.2, but in a small printing it also says only for high school student. OK, that's fine, you charge me $7.5 right? OK , this also be fine, I am an adult. I suppose to pay more for my food, but as you already charge me as an adult, why you only give me the food for small kids?

The couple that own this place are super nice. went back in 2018, and now in 2022. Still the same good food, and same good people. what else can you ask for in a local spot?

Found out there was a new owner so i just went to try it for lunch. The food is alot better. There was meat and vegetables this time to the point that it fully covered the rice. If the new owner keeps cooking like this i will be a frequent customer forsure

Chicken balls were the size of a quarter. Chicken fried rice was orange rice with no chicken. Then the pepper steak had maybe 8 pieces of steak we ended up throwing it all out. Now I know why it wasn't busy on New year's Eve. Worst I've ever had.

This is literally one of the best Chinese food places in KW area, went there last week for take-out. The food was more like a fusion style Chinese food, yummy and delectable! The place was also clean and tidy, the owner was welcoming. Overall really good experience, will definitely come back again.
