About Sweet Lollapalooza Confections

One of the chocolates we're proud to feature and which we've won awards with internationally, is Pure Nacional from Peru. We have exclusive access to this chocolate in our region and we're part of a very small community of chocolatiers that work with this rare chocolate.

The DNA of Pure Nacional is extremely rare. Until the early 20th century, Nacional, a member of the Forastero family, one of the three main genetic categories of cacao, was widely grown in Ecuador, which was then the world’s largest cacao producer. But Nacional succumbed to disease and was thought to be extinct, until a small number of trees were found growing on Don Fortunato’s farm in Peru at an altitude above 3,500 feet, which is rare as well because cacao rarely grows above 2,000 feet. The chocolate is intense, with a floral aroma and a persistent mellow richness. Its lack of bitterness is remarkable.

The Nacional cacao has an unusual and precious characteristic: some of the beans are white, not the usual purple, which produces a more smooth-tasting, less acidic chocolate. It's believed that the white beans are mutations that happen when trees are left undisturbed for hundreds of years.

There aren’t many of these trees on the farm, and it requires a rare chocolate longitudinal conch in Switzerland, created in 1879, to turn these delicate beans into fine chocolate. Which is why chocolate made from 100 percent white beans is extremely expensive and very hard to find.  Only a few chocolatiers world-wide have access to it.

If you haven't tried Pure Nacional yet, you really should treat yourself.  It's an incredible chocolate experience.

I bought gift boxes for friends. The Salesperson was very helpful when I had no idea what I was doing. She was very patient with all my questions, there was so much variety, and was knowledgeable with little stories behind the creation of each chocolate which added to the charm of having a local chocolateer. The price was high but so is the quality and if the portions were small it is still well worth the trip downtown & I will be back. Anytime Peanut Better & Chocolate are blended, it's magical

100% the best chocolate I have ever had. I am not even a chocolate lover, in all honesty, I could usually go with out. BUT these chocolates are decadent. I am craving them constantly. The coconut one, and the praline one are amazing, but he does tons of unique flavors. The owner always offers you a sample of your favorite or a new one. Trust me, once you eat one, you wont be able to stop!

Exquisite! Wish there were free parking. I paid 4 dollars for parking because there’s a lineup. It’d be nice to be compensated with some free samplers like before the pandemic.

Sweet Lollapalooza is hands down the best chocolate I have ever had, the presentation and unique flavors are exquisite and world class. I have always disliked how some chocolate companies sell huge packages with very few chocolates inside, this place is the opposite. A smallish looking box will contain double the expected quantity and every one is lovely! Worth every penny, if you need a gift for someone you care about, look no further!

We love the interesting variety of flavours of chocolates that Sweet Lollapalooza produces, ones we don't see elsewhere. Also, their toffee is the best ive found, or at least tied for the best

For those complaining about the price! This is called artisanal chocolate. Which means 1 piece can go between 2 - 7$. If you want toxises go to prugies, rocky mountain chocolate, or Ferrero chocolate. I've been to Paris and I visited debauve et galais they charges 7$ for 1 piece for some bonbons. Now import and export to Canada is expensive which means he should charges more. Somone mentioned finished cake is cheaper! Well a cake ingredients are much cheaper and less complex than making chocolate bonbon. ? and going trough tempering process. It's freaking hard business. Too bad less educated poeple about quality. Plz go to Wal-Mart
