★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As a health care worker in Ontario, I was pretty nervous about placing my father in long-term care. Due to the wonderful staff at Spencer House, I soon learned that I had no need to be. The move-in process was amazing, as has been every other interaction with the staff. Every department head was there when we moved him in, so they could get a complete picture of his needs. He, and we his family, were listened to and involved in problem solving. Now, four months later, everyone knows my dad. And I mean actually knows him despite his being an introvert… his current medical status, his struggles, his preferences, and even his fits of pique! Every nurse and every PSW in his unit genuinely care about him, and do their best to make him feel secure, comfortable and as happy as he is able to be. As a rotating shift worker, I can’t be there with him every day or even at predictable intervals, but I am always kept very well informed by knowledgeable and attentive staff. I can’t tell you how much of a load this has taken off my mind. Thank you to everyone at Spencer House!
