SookePoint Ocean Cottage Resort

The rooms are large and have everything you need. Bring bug zapper for the mosquitoes and binoculars for the sea view. My only recommendation would be for a portable fan and a screen for one side of the patio sliding doors. Of course it's not always going to be record heat wave, but with keeping the door open to get a breeze comes with a catch of local mosquito population moving in during the stay.

When we arrived our first impression was great. The cottages are all on a giant rock plateau high above the ocean. The units are quite expensive, but this was a special occasion for us and as sun-lovers we were looking forward to spending time in the sun on our deck with view of the ocean and surrounding islands during our 6-night stay. However, as soon as we entered our unit our excitement quickly turned into disappointment. We were given unit 9B, which is facing north and there was never any sun at any time of the day. The unit is completely in the shade all day long. We felt deceived because when we picked our unit online, the website produced photos of the supposed unit that clearly showed the sun shining on the deck. We think they should me more transparent in their advertising and make it clear that the photos are not necessarily actual pictures of the unit that you will end up in. Then when we sat down to look out those giant glass doors, we noticed that there wasn’t much of a view to enjoy either. Not because there wasn’t anything to see but rather because the glass doors and the glass panes on the deck were so dirty that all we could see was the foggy outline of the coast and mountains in the distance. Have a look at the attached photos to see what it looked like. Of course we are quite aware that the glass would get dirty again on a windy day when the spray picks up, but for this price we would have expected all the glass to have been cleaned before we checked in. After all, the reason we booked this place was not for the flat-screen TVs or fancy appliances which we also have at home, but rather we paid for this place to get the spectacular view from a sunny deck. The least they could do before new guests arrive is to provide unobstructed access to the stunning view by cleaning the windows and the glass enclosure on the deck. So, if you book this place, be aware that there are dozens of units and that you may get a shadow-unit like we did. And you also might want to bring along some glass cleaner and a squeegee so you can actually enjoy the view from behind the glass. You should also be aware that there is no beach and no access to the ocean for launching kayaks. We brought our kayaks but had to drive elsewhere to get them into the water – can’t do that at the resort. We subtracted one star for the windows and glass panels on the deck not having been cleaned before our arrival, especially since the view is their major selling point. And then we subtract another star for misleading advertising, which lead us to believe we could actually enjoy sitting in the sun on our deck and enjoy the view, when in fact we couldn’t enjoy the deck at all because it was just too cold to sit in the shade all day.

The views of the resort are absolutely stunning! And it is a very short walk to the coast trail, so you have a great location for hiking. Despite other reviews, the location that we stayed at was sparkling clean and immaculate. The blinds had been removed, and the screen door was broken, but the only 'things' who could see in the windows, would be orca whales or seals. The only thing we misunderstood, was that the snookepoint is at least half an hour+ drive, from grocery stores or restaurants. So this is the perfect place if you want to unplug or need a base for hiking. You will need to plan your groceries ahead of time, and bring them with you, as I sent my husband out twice to pick up food, and it was 1.5 hours each time. But, 10 out of 10 for the Instagram and hiking!!!!!

Cottage had an awesome view of the ocean. So quiet and peaceful.

First experience with cottage rentals. Absolutely breathtaking ocean views. Highly recommend. One nitpick is with the kitchen equipment that comes with the cottage. Some are quite worn out and missing lids for containers. If you plan to cook you should consider bringing some of your own.

The Spa and Restaurant were both fully booked, so we couldn’t enjoy either. When we tried to order room service, the employee at the restaurant was very confused about what wines they offered. When our food finally arrived, it was cold and our wine wasn’t there. She said she would be right back with the wine - it arrived an hour later. For a resort experience, I expected more. Room was decent and clean.

Wow! Excellent property, no disappointments, it's costly but when you get there and step into the upscale accommodation with the incredible views you will see why. Excellent location, views and the bonus of having the coastal trail system trailhead within a fifteen minute walk from your front door.

I have not stayed there, only toured the show cottage. These places are beautiful and the scenery is stunning. At first I gave them a 4 star because I thought there wasn't much storage space. The owner clarified where extra storage is, so I am now giving this a 5 star. Top notch!
