The ribs were the fan favorites, although the brisket and sausage were close contenders. Nothing at all wrong with the pulled pork or the chicken, but the others were simply a cut above. The sides are just as tasty - beans, cornbread and coleslaw were all fantastic. And despite the ridiculous amount of gorging, we disgustingly followed it all with smoky bacon Nanaimo bars... Not a great place for vegan diners, but for anyone that enjoys a great BBQ, Smokin' George's is a winner!
K	Kate O'Connell on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've been a customer here since 2016 and more regularly since moving to Nanaimo proper. I cannot say enough good things about this establishment. For starters, you'd be hard pressed to find a more passionate and friendly chef and hard-working, equally friendly crew. I love seeing them every time I go in and they go the extra mile to make sure you're happy. They stand by what they make and it shows! Secondly, the food is very reasonably priced for the portions. Sometimes, you go to a place, eat food, and you're hungry again an hour or two later. This is NOT the case here. The portions are large, filling, and extremely tasty! My favorite menu item is their pulled pork poutine (pictured) and there are times I can barely finish it because there's so much. Money well spent for a good hearty meal! (Yes, the poutine here is a meal all on its own!) If you're in Nanaimo and you want good BBQ, stop here. You'll be glad you did!
K	Kenrick Li on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I always eat here when I am in town. A great local hotspot for flavorful classic BBQ with a local flair. The sides are just as tasty as the mains. Reasonably priced/good value menu. The staff are always friendly, fast, and caring.

Unfortunately, it was too much for 2 people to eat a whole box of fries and containers of beans and coleslaw. The BBQ itself was a good size for 2 people. Everything was delicious except for the sausage which was rather bland. The coleslaw was a sour version which is not what I'm used to and the beans tasted like a vegetable soup. Wasn't sure what to make of them. The fries were good.

I may go to Nanaimo 3-4 times a year and I dont wanna count the number if times I could have enjoyed his master bbq work. Its one of those places you wish you had an extra stomach. The meats are cooled to perfection, his secret recipe bbq sauce is so tasty and way better than any I have tasted. The sides are yummy too; the coleslaw has a tangy sauce that goes perfectly with the meat, deep fried pickle was my favourite. He is also famous for his house baked Nanaimo bars; it contain bacon. Not really my thing but its worth a try.
