The staff are all very helpful and very very friendly. We were helped by Thomas this time and he is patient and professional. He understands our needs and addresses our concerns very well. The storage place is very organized and tidy. I would recommend everyone to use the service here.

Great experience. Very helpful and friendly staff!! Editing my review: I noticed that my monthly invoice increased without any explanation. I called them and they said that their rent increases every 6 months or so. At no point during the sign up process was I told about this policy, which seems like an important detail to leave out. I also re-read the contract in case it was something I missed, but that clause is not mentioned. They said they sent me a letter about the increase but I did not receive anything, and I check my mail regularly. Also, why not just send a quick email to let us know of this increase? The lack of transparency has impacted my experience, which is why I changed from 5 stars to 3. I probably would not have signed up had I known about the company policy of revising rent every 6 months.

We primarily chose to go with Smartstop for our storage needs just based on our initial interaction with Thomas. He was very helpful and patient with all our questions and is still always available whenever we need to ask him something. The location itself is always very clean, my only recommendation would be to provide some sort of disposal service in case things needs to be cleared out from units.

First time using a storage unit so I didn't know what to expect. I used the Wicksteed location and it was a great experience. The front desk staff was friendly, responsible and always on top of things (i.e. I'd see him making rounds or making sure entrance ways were clear of snow/ice, etc.). The place itself was well-maintained and always clean. The other renters I ran into there were always nice and courteous. The only two issues I had with this location were mainly technical and no fault of the staff: *once the front gate remained open for a day or so which seemed like a security risk but they do have surveillance cameras and the front desk staff do security rounds throughout the warehouse) *for a few days the back gate was out of commission which caused a bit of a choke when there were lots of vehicles there as everyone had to go back out the front gate. After that huge January snowstorm in Toronto, this location was plowed and salted in a very short time afterwards unlike many other businesses that took a day or two after the storm to be cleared. That was a relief as I had hired movers for the day after and they were able to get in and empty my unit. I would definitely use this location again if I needed to.

They increased the rent for my 5 x 10 unit from $138 to $219 (59%) within 6 months, with no warning. Be wary of cheap introductory prices. They will increase it astronomically with no shame. When I called to end my lease due to the increase, no counter offer was even proposed. They didn't care.

The customer service has been great. Some hidden fees though: specifically they don’t tell you that you’ll have to purchase a $20 lock from them. I paid approx $30 when reserving and confirming my reservation online which I assumed was my first month… it was just an added fee- was told I owed first month if once in the office. Also was told they up the rental fees every 6 months- perhaps this is a common thing, but I will definitely be trying to move to another company once they do this. Overall- customer service has been great!! Hidden fees…… not great.

Very misleading practice. I initially signed up with the notion that the rate was set for my storage unit however I have just received a notice stating that the rent is going up 8% without warning every 6-8 months. I contacted customer care where they told me the rates go up every 6-8 months 8-10% which means a annual increase of 16-20% on average. As a business owner I understand the need to raise rates from time to time but this seems unethical and misleading. I will have to find a new storage as rate increases at the frequency seem unsustainable.

Smart Stop Storage Wicksteed is a great location !!! I've had multiple lockers since they have opened and they offer A1 service. Brand new facility, climate controlled, security and amazing staff. I highly recommend this location. I've been to many storage facilities in the city, and this is one of the best maintained locations i've come across. Melissa was amazing when they opened and now she is at another location in the city. Thomas has been awesome as the manager at Wicksteed and has been very helpful with everything. 5 STARS !!!
