So who, or what the heck is a skid? And why would I name my business after it?
Skid was a dog. A very special dog. Skid’s official name was BIS Am./Can. Ch. Windkist Black Ice. She was the first generation of my breeding program. She has the most wins of any Windkist dog. She produced some amazing children and contributed much to my breeding program. But Skid was so much more….
For 16 years, Skid was my constant companion. She lived and traveled with me through most of the Midwest USA and across Canada. She could usually be found sitting on the passenger seat of my car, guarding against intruders. Except intruders with Tim Horton’s muffins. They were allowed in. If they were willing to share. She spent every night hogging my bed. It’s amazing how much space a 25 pound dog can take up when they want to.
Skid was my best friend. She saw me through good and bad. I miss her constant presence and quiet companionship. I lost her a year ago at 16 years of age. I named this business Skid’s Run in tribute to her. She stole a piece of my heart…

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When I showed up to drop my dog off the dog was locked and after 10 minutes of knocking someone finally came to the door. I was told that it was closed however I had a confirmed booking to drop him off so they reluctantly let me in. When I went inside all the other dogs were in crates even though it was 9am. The building smells awful, but not like dogs. More like a seniors home (death). It is dirty and doesn’t look like a safe place for a dog.
Not sure how they are for training but I would never board my dog here again, run down facility and staff member’s don’t seem to care.
They should change the name to skids row

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Will never bring my dog here again. Second time I’ve had a bad experience with my pet here. First time he got a serve kennel cough (which I know is not much fault of the kennels) second time I had him stay for the weekend and said I’d pick him up at 9 on Sunday, guy on the phone said perfect that’s good! I come from an hour out side of the city, got there at 8:40… sat and waiting and came back 3 times before I finally quit at 11am. What was I suppose to do. I called the number on the door about a million times. I can hear my dog alone and crying. And since it is now 11 am I can assume no one has been there this morning and my dog hasn’t ate either. I get it it is Easter Sunday but don’t confirm a pick up if you aren’t intending on being there. OR leave a second phone number on the door if you aren’t gonna answer that either. Wish I could give negative stars.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I brought my dog here for the day when I took my boys to the World Waterpark for the day, and honestly, I am not sure who had more fun or came home more tired....my boys or my dog!
The facility is generous in size and very clean. I noticed the dogs have access to many sources of water throughout the day, which someone takes great care to ensure is always clean and fresh. They do an assessment on new intakes to ensure the well being and safety of their existing four legged customers. The staff view each dog as a part of their 'pack' and clearly are very passionate and knowledgeable about dogs and the dynamics that exist between them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My 2 dogs Charlie and Willa go to daycare at Skids. I love when they go because they sleep so well that night. We mostly go when it's been too cold or hot to take them outside. The staff are always friendly, and were so patient with Willa while she was nervous to make friends. They also trim both dogs nails and it's perfect because they burn some energy, and have fun, get their trim, and go right back to playing. The facility is large, and clean and well organized.

My family has taken several of their training classes & enjoyed all of the instructors- it's a great place to learn how to get involved in dog sports & showing, along with basic pet training. Highly recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Did you know Skids Run is a women-led, locally owned business by one of Canada’s best Hungarian Puli Breeders? Their daycare service is excellent, allowed un-altered dogs to be including in their service, while ensuring the best safety and well being of all dogs. Their classes and training are excellently run. They know their stuff and also prepares handlers for Rally, Obedience, Trick Training, Scent Tracking and more. Their prices are more than reasonable. Their space is large and cleaned often. I give my unreserved recommendation. Check them out and support a wonderful daycare & boarding service!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have this monster of a dog. To avoid him looking at me like this, I take him to Skid's.
Honestly, I love it there. They do nails, boarding, classes, daycare, whatever your pooch needs. It's a more casual place, there aren't doggy cams or anything gimmicky like that.
Rather, they have good service and professional experts.
Skid's offers realistic solutions at reasonable prices. They seem to be good with all breeds and sizes and accept in-tact dogs.
My monster dog can be anxious and aggressive, but they have worked with me (and him!) to ensure he has the best dog life.
Another plus is actively involved management of a family run company. Support your local by dropping your dog at Skid's.
