All Western Contracting Ltd. (Concrete Specialists) - Edmonton

We hired AWC ltd to pour our patio and was told by Mohammed (Mike) Chebli that he was the owner. From the start there were many rookie mistakes by trying to cut corners. Steps were agreed to be installed on the patio due to the height. They didn’t bring enough lumber and framed the steps to be half the original size. They tried convincing my wife to install a railing on the steps instead. This led to my wife knocking on neighbour’s doors asking for lumber to complete the steps properly. They only made one step and didn’t frame it right which led to the cement bleeding out of the frame and it dried and turned it into a blob of cement on my grass connected to the one step. I had to call Mike back to come and fix the mess by adding another step. The dye they added to the concrete wasn’t washed down properly for the gloss finish and the dye migrated to one side of the pad which made that side a gross greasy darker finish than the rest of the pad Mike had to come back again and pour more powder and re spay more gloss finish to turn the whole patio all black in colour. We wanted a light grey but were okay with the black. Mike spayed so much chemicals onto the patio that the chemicals started to react and foam and bubbles started to appear all over the patio. Mike said the bubbles will pop on their own with the wind. Wrong again, the bubbles dried in a bubble form and looked like broken hard plastic. It looked terrible, Mike said it can’t be fixed and it will go away with traffic. There was still one step to be done as they laid the cement pad too far above the topsoil. The pad inclines at least a foot above the topsoil towards the house. They used the same thickness of cement from the start of the pad to the end of the pad which is at least a foot away from the grass. You think they would have known better to make it thinker with the incline. Well they didn’t and now I have crevices under my pad where you can physically see the gap between the grounds and the cement pad and mice are currently now living in the gap and running all over the patio and no one wants to sit outside anymore. Mike promised to complete the step within the next few weeks. We didn’t hear back from Mike so we followed up with him, he said due to the change in weather he will complete the step next spring. I even offered to pour the cement myself and asked Mike for the powder and stamping pads but was told not to do that as I could ruin the look of the pad and was promised by Mike he would return in the spring to fix his mistake. This spring we tried contacting Mike with no answer and we sent multiple emails to the company and spoke to a representative (Mona) who assured us she will help get this issue sorted. She also informed us that Mike was not an owner and that he hasn’t worked for the company for months. We have confirmed through a few different sources that he still does work for the company. Finally we spoke to the owner Khalil Hayek who said he has been doing this work for 20 years even though he is only 30 years old. Khalil said he wouldn’t honor what was promised to us by a member of his company. He said based on the quote Mike did extra work for me such as the stairs at no cost. Khalil kept referencing the original quote. The original quote was amended because we extended the patio and the stairs from the original quote which I have paid the difference and I demolished the original deck and rented and paid for the garbage bin. Khalil became very combative on the phone and told us he wouldn’t finish the job that his company started. Khalil keeps telling us to call Mike to complete the job as Mike worked on my patio and doesn’t work for his company anymore and it’s not the company’s responsibility. The truth is the emails, quote and the work was completed by AWC Ltd and whether someone still works there or not the company is responsible for the work it preformed. The attitude of this company and specifically its owner Khalil has been very disappointing in every aspect. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

Working with All Western Contracting was a wonderful experience. They had our basement renovations done . They are are professional, honest and very hands on and hard working, for a reasonable price . Highly recommend !!!

The group of guys that Cal had placing my concrete in the garage were nothing short of spectacular. Courteous, knowledgeable, and above everything else they were very respectful. Would definitely call them again

We just got our driveway done by All Western Contracting Team. They have done an excellent job and we are very happy with their work. The whole team was helpful and very easily approachable. We highly recommend this company if anyone is thinking of their getting their driveway done.

All Western did a great job on our cement work! Very organized and a stand up company ! Crew worked great together to get the project completed. I would highly recommend them to anyone, you will not be disappointed in the finished product, work ethic from the crew and great organization from the company 5 stars all the way Thanks All Western !

Kal and his team are incredible at what they do! We had our patio done with All western contracting last year. We are completely satisfied with how it turned out , they did a fantastic job . He came up with some great ideas that really enhanced the project. He kept us updated on the project throughout and answered all our questions!!

This is Yasser Assaf's response to AWC ltd's response to Yasser's review. I would like to thank the owner Khalil for not even reading my review. Khalil the owner keeps mentioning he adhered to a signed agreement that we had. As I mentioned the quote and job scope changed before the job commenced it was agreed upon with your company representative Mike Chilbi who said he was the owner. On top of that the price changed with the job and I paid more than what was on the original quote because I added more work to the job and I paid for it what I didn't get was everything I paid for i.e. the missing step to cover up your mistake by laying the pad too far above the grade of the topsoil. I am sadden to hear that in the quote it should have been mentioned that the cement pad goes into the ground and not 8 inches above the grade, are these the kinds of things that should have been in the quote. I was under the impression you knew what you were doing and apparently I was wrong. It is sad to see that you run your business like a child playing games and I am tired of the games that you have run with us for a year now. especially during a pandemic when that outdoor space is so important to so many people right now and was needed and is still needed by my family. You did sub-par work and refuse to fix your mistakes, instead you send me a $1,200.00 quote to pour one step which is ridiculous in every sense of the word. I was willing to work with you and get the job done but you sent me a outlandish quote to fix your own mistake just to try and take advantage of the situation in an attempt to profit on your own shoddy work. At this point I don't trust or respect you or your operation and I hope others learn from what happened to me and never hire you to complete any kind of work.

We needed some concrete work done in our basement after removing a bunch of the floor to get plumbing in. All western was quick and friendly. Their price was fair and everyone I dealt with was professional. They got the job done quickly and properly. I would absolutely use them again.
