The receptionists at this clinic are evil. I arrived 5 minutes late because of a car accident on the highway, plus having to pull over for my spouse to drive because I was in so much pain. The receptionists turned me away at once for being 5 minutes late without even asking my doctor if they would see me, or the nature of my problem. Shame on them.

Worst receptionists ever, no empathy, no compassion whatsoever.. why do you even bother working at a medical clinic? My wife took my months old baby here to see a doctor because he is super sick with cold/flu like symptoms. He has been throwing up, coughing and not able to sleep all night but when they arrived 5 minutes late for their appointment, they were told to come back another day. Yes they were late for the appointment but maybe take into consideration that the baby threw up all over himself as they were going to the clinic. Don't you have any empathy? If you have kids or not, and you must not have any or else you'd have understand why some time people with young babies shows up a few minutes late for one reason or another. If you hate helping people, specially young sick babies, go find another job and work elsewhere. This is medical clinic where sick people come to get help. If you have no empathy, compassion and not willing to help people, this is not a job for you.

I have always been met by professional admin staff and my Doctor is great. It is the first Health Center I have been to that makes an effort to reduce appointment wait times, unfortunately for some that means making sure everyone is on time for their appointment. People arriving late alters the doctor's schedule and that translates to longer wait times for patients that do arrive on time. What may be a complaint to some is what makes the Sitka Health Center exceptional.

It's hard to write a review. Do I talk about the receptionist and waiting area or the doctor? The doctor (Dr. Herriot) was fine. He's young and open and honest. I felt comfortable with him. There are several receptionists and staff besides the doctors. I don't know what they all do. The older receptionist is a bit short and I think a little incompetent/uncaring. She called me the day before and told me the wrong appointment time. I was off by 30 minutes, no big deal. When I returned and announced myself for the appointment, she forgot to let the doctor know. Thankfully, another staff member was able to sort that out with me and got me in to see the doctor. Everyone else was a bit more attentive. I would avoid the older lady if possible. I think her name is Helga? You'll recognize her because she'll be on her phone instead of answering calls or looking at you. Maybe it was a bad day too. I'll change my review if it's better the next time I'm back but I'm doubtful since the waiting room patients were telling me the same thing. But what's important to you? A good doctor or a good receptionist?

I was a patient of this clinic for a couple of years. The doctor I was seeing decided to pursue other interests, which is honestly wonderful for him. Trying to get prescriptions at the end was an absolute nightmare. As a veteran with PTSD, I expected that it might take a couple of days to get a prescription but it took weeks and arguing, after the doctor forgot to write the prescription. When I tried to talk about the effects this has had on me, the receptionist interrupted me and hung up. It's been a rough go with these people.

This review is about the receptionists, not the Doctors. My wife and I have been seeing a Doctor here for years, and him and his Locums have been great and helpful. The receptionists, on the other hand, have been rude, unprofessional and extremely unhelpful. They talk to the patients with absolutely no respect or patience, and we have both heard them many times gossiping and talking badly about other staff when we have been in the waiting room. When my wife tried to talk about a situation that happened that she felt was very unprofessional, the other receptionist said "she didn't want to talk about it" and hung up on her. If I could figure out the contact information of who owns or runs the clinic, I would definitely make a complaint to them and ask them to hire more professional and friendly staff members. We are just trying to get medical care and take care of ourselves, and we shouldn't be subject to constant abuse from bitter mid-aged women to do so.

Updated May 2022: The last couple times I've called in, I've talked to the same person and they have been quite friendly and understanding. β€” I would give my doctor a 4 or 5, but like many other reviewers, likely came here to complain about the admin staff that I repeatedly find to lack empathy. Maybe they're not treated well by the doctors or the patients, I don't know, but it really does suck. You also cannot leave voicemails nor contact the facility via email or anything else. Being able to book appointments or request prescription refills online would be amazing. I have to remember to call two weeks before my prescription runs out to ensure I get a phone appointment in time. The building and location are nice for what it's worth.

My Dr is great so I shall give her a separate 5 star on her page. Reception terrible, very defensive even when asked a question respectfully and politely. Also they lie, I chased up a referral in January I'd requested in September, when I called back the next day after the initial call to ask what was happening with it they said it takes a few days to hear from the Dr re what's happening. Next time I visited the Dr I asked her about that and she said thats not true, in fact the referral had been done the day before I called but I suspect they lied as theyd missed doing the referral in September and didnt want to admit the mistake, I get stuff happens but taking ownership and apologizing goes a long way. Dissapointing.
