Food is good especially when you are coming from the hospital for their CCP.

Very well maintained, all the staff and volunteers are super friendly and the patient care staff do their best given their high patient to staff ratio's. Food is good especially when you are coming from the hospital for their CCP.

I came here for a month and it was stressful every time. This LTC could have been nice if the staff were more friendly/ nice.

The PSW's that took care of my Dad here treated the patients worse than POW's. Terrible terrible terrible treatment. My Dad had to line up and beg for his food and the PSW's were taking food home for themselves. My Dad complained to the administrators and they threatened him more. He ended up checking himself out and he wasn't fully recovered yet. Stay away from this place. Only the nurses were nice to him.

And I will alter my review for the final time, which I've taken too long to do.... leaving all my former reviews below. At our discharge meeting with the family, Seven Oaks relented and let my mom stay an extra week or so until the house was ready. We were grateful to them for that. And as my mom has now been home for several weeks, my dad acknowledges that she could be hard to settle at bedtime. These are not easy jobs, caring for our elderly parents, to be sure. So, given that many of the staff were good and the place clean and comfortable, 3 stars again! Well, I have to edit my earlier review once again (which I will leave below) and I’m actually hugely disappointed to say that JM was right and I was wrong. My parents were informed today that Mom will be sent home 2 weeks+ earlier than expected - because she complained about rough bedtime treatment by a few of the PSWs (most of whom she likes, but a few were so rough they hurt her mending hip.) My Dad is renovating the house for her wheelchair but it won’t be ready for the new date. He’s been told that’s his problem. So those who complained the PSWs can be awful to patients and get away with it - I guess you were right. It’s unfortunate because Seven Oaks is quite lovely and the physiotherapists are both very good, according to my parents. Shame that the home protects the PSWs from any complaints and evicts the convalescent residents who complain. (Though I’ve heard the food is also dreadful.) This is my former review: I am adding to my earlier review in response to JM, below: I’m not sure what axe you are grinding, JM, but as you’re not even willing to use your full name or to explain how you have “10 years experience with this place” yet you “wouldn’t put a dog there,” I’d suggest others can safely ignore what you’re saying. Mom has now been there close to 2 weeks, in a convalescent bed, as she recovers from surgery. Dad visits for hours each day. I was there today and queried Mom again about her care. She loves her physiotherapists in particular and says all the staff have been responsive and kind. She’s no shrinking violet and quite openly told us a few weeks ago when she thought her hospital nurses were too rough. I only write again because I fear other families considering Seven Oaks would be frightened off by these strange reviews, as they concerned us. I can’t speak for what it may once have been like. I can only say that our experience with the convalescent care and all the staff has been top notch. Again, go visit for yourself and compare to the others. Anonymous troll types are not worth paying much heed. My original review: Mom has been here just under a week, recovering from emergency surgery after breaking her hip, and our experience has been absolutely first rate. Staff have been welcoming and kind, food, with choices at each meal, has been good and plentiful. The rooms are clean. There are places to gather with visitors, including a large, open and bright atrium, an auditorium and even a small pub open a couple times a week. Mom had her hair cut soon after she moved in and was thrilled with it. We saw 3 homes before choosing this one and the entire family, including Mom, are thrilled we got into this one. We were a little concerned by the negative reviews - no need to be. The place is great.

This is for Kathy Blair. Rating for under a week is not advised. Any place can look good for a week. I have ten years’ experience with this place and I wouldn’t put a dog there. Residents are uniformly fearful of complaining because inevitably they will receive worse treatment afterwards. I have seen the most despicable treatment of elderly ill people I have ever seen in my lifetime including mental abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse and more. You need to be around A LOT and at different times when you’re not expected. Places can have beautiful grounds, lovely rooms to gather, and the most professional people at the top of the organization. You see that well educated lovely person at the top once a year. What matters are the people the resident encounters on a daily basis, those who dress, wash, help transfer and feed if needed and clean the rooms. These are the ones that count. They are also the worst paid and the least educated. They are the ones mentioned above that your loved one will never complain about because they fear retaliation but will never tell you that. These employees are nice when you are there. A different story when you are not. If you saw three long term care homes and this was the best that’s believable. What isn’t believable is the rest of your post. If you and other family members are around A LOT, and I mean, A LOT, write the same again in a year. And most importantly, it doesn’t matter how close you think you are, your relative is NEVER going to tell you the negative things because they don’t want you to know nor to worry. Check constantly for bed sores, bruises, etc. Don’t take the staff’s word on anything. Get a hidden nanny cam. If you can find a way, take your mother home after she’s sufficiently recovered. Then you won’t have to blame yourself and feel guilty when she’s no longer around. Not a good place to be. I would rate it zero stars if I could. Good luck. You’ll need it.

My mom was treated poorly. She was left in her bed in a dirty diaper. She had bed sores all over her and she fell several times while being toileting. The volunteers were good with her but the psw on the floor was a real pain ( me being nice) The doctor kept her drugged up so she wouldn't cause them any hassles. She ended up in the hospital which was a good thing as she got off the pills and was treated like a human being....

This has to be the worse long term care home in the GTA. The management outright lies and misleads families. I would not leave my dog here. The level of care is very superficial when you visit and after your love one is "settled", the true environment becomes very apparent. Management is rude and condescending. If you love your family member, DO NOT VISIT THIS HOME.!!!!
