This review is for this new receptionist for Dr. Ma who is RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL I came in and sat down because she told me that she would call me when the room was ready. When the room was ready so told me to follow her to the room. As soon as we got to the room she said "It's not ready yet" started spraying the bed then turned around and shut the door on my face. Fast forward to when I was sitting in the room waiting for the doctor. I saw the same receptionist take another patient to a room that was NOT ready yet and let her follow her in, smoothly just like that. Like wow really lol. Then I get a call from her to follow up about my Appt we had. She was soooo rude and would not let me speak. I would say something and she would be like "are you done yet" Wooooow she was telling then I started to yell because this woman did not hear me to the point where you would think she would act professional and calm down the situation right? Nope she made it worse. Then the other Dr replacing MA her name is Dr Mayo I can hear the doctor voice speaking next to this receptionist and the Dr. And not even telling the receptionist to speak appropriately to DR Ma's patients. She's just telling her messages to tell me VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. I will never come back to this place. DR MA's replacement Dr. MAYO would rather me be in pain and put an iud in me then putting me in day surgery like I did the first time with Dr. MA . She would rather do it in the office so I can suffer in pain. Now why would you do that when my OWN doctor, DR MA wouldnt put it in me in the office after her first attempt.

I’m so disappointed in my birth experience- my only real desire was to be a part of decision making and to have clear consent. There were so many instances where I was just told what would be happening vs being asked. For example, she didn’t get consent from me for an episiotomy till I yelled at her when I saw the glint of her scissors. I wanted delayed cord clamping and for them to leave the vernix on and they did neither amongst other things I’d have liked to have happen. I was not in control during any part of the birth with her and have lingering issues due to this. I regret having Dr. Ma as my attending OB but it was the (bad) luck of the draw for me.

I was a patient of Dr.Ma's about 5 years ago. In the beginning she was amazing, I had a ton of symptoms of a lot of serious gynecological issues including severe heavy bleeding that I'd already been hospitalized for at least 5 times, cramps that caused me to vomit from pain, male pattern hair growth on my face, back and chest, uncontrollably weight gain even when on a strict diet supervised by a dietitian etc. I now know these to be symptoms of PCOS, however Dr Ma was unwilling to acknowledge PCOS as even being a real illness. Not only is it very real, one in five women have it! She was willing to and performed multiple exploratory, unnecessary surgeries before she would listen to me about my suspicions of PCOS. She told me I was just obese and caused my own problems by being obese and making up illnesses wouldn't solve my problems. Cut to two years later when I finally had the nerve to open up to a doctor again I was diagnosed with...PCOS. I am now dealing with my symptoms, because there is no cure yet, appropriately with a nutritionist, a few prescribed medications and supplements. Dr. Ma made me feel less than human, like I wasn't worthy of being helped or believed because I was fat. She left me sick and suffering and called me a liar every time I tried to advocate for myself. I believe she knows a lot, but to refuse to acknowledge one of the most common gynecological diseases affecting women currently makes her uninformed, narrow minded and irresponsible. She was rude, condescending and seemed to lose interest in me when I no longer meant viable billable hours anymore. If you are experiencing symptoms of PCOS, run, do not walk, to the Women's College of Medicine in Toronto. They saved my life, they believed me and listened to me. Even when I confided in Dr. Ma my pain was so great I have contemplated cutting out my own uterus to find some relief, she rolled her eyes , accused me of inventing an illness (to which there was no pill available so there was no benefit) and repeatedly called me obese , overweight and the author of my own misfortune. I dont think she needs it, I'm sure she doesn't give a second thought to any patient when she leaves the building at the end of the day, but I will never forgive Dr. Ma for how she treated me.

Dr. J Ma, has helped me through my PCOS. I have seen her through out 5 years, being able to contact her whenever I have a concern about anything. She has been very respectful. I believe the few bad reviews are on here due to her being so real, not sugar coating an issue, rather wanting to get down to the bottom of it, and some people can’t face the truth or real facts. My personal experience is that she is excellent, very knowledgeable in her field. My family member delivered 3 healthy beautiful babies with her, and they also loved their experience with her.

This rating is not even for Dr.Ma herself but more so her business. I honestly am not sure how this business is run, but to post office hours and nobody answers the phone is ridiculous. I have called her office 23 times this morning just to attempt to change my appointment and I can’t even leave a message cause their voicemail is FULL! But if you don’t call ahead a week before to change your appointment or confirm your appointment they will just cancel it on you even though I am doing my part and can’t reach anyone. If your office hours are inaccurate then they need to be changed online so patients are aware.

Dr Ma is knowledgable and thoughtful OB. She is happy to answer all your questions, and knows when to take a matter seriously, and when something should be monitored, but not stressed over. She made me feel like I was in good hands, and helped me find a midwife for post-partum care when I told her that was something I was interested. The mid-wife clinic that Dr. Ma helped me find spoke highly of her as well. I felt lucky to have her as my doctor.
