About Sawmill

Mr. Tom Goodchild established the Sawmill Restaurant Group in November of 1976, and over the years, the Sawmill has grown with the city. You will find Mr. Goodchild actively involved in our day to day operations.

We are an Edmonton based company operating fully licensed food and beverage operations in Edmonton.

The main ingredients to the Goodchild success formula are the dedication to and insistence on delivery of top quality products with exemplary service. This philosophy has become the cornerstone of the Sawmill Group’s tradition. Famous for our 28-day aged Certified Angus Beef, the varied selections on our menu are sure to please everyone.

Competitions

The opportunity to have our Culinary Team explore their potential beyond our standard menu is important as they grow within our organization. We are pleased to showcase their culinary talent and have won many competitions over the years.

Every year we participate in Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s “FEASTival of Fine Chefs”. As a fundraiser for their Chef’s Apprenticeship Program, participating dining establishments are given a “mystery food hamper” 24 hours in advance. With only these items (different for each participant) the objective is to create a four-course gourmet meal for approximately 60 guests. The Sawmill is always among the best in taste and presentation.

Affiliations & Memberships

The Sawmill Restaurant Group maintains membership in a number of industry related organizations, including Edmonton Tourism, Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, Alberta Restaurant & Food Association, Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, Canadian Food & Restaurant Association and Alberta Tourism Education Council. We strongly support culinary and apprenticeship programs in the province and are members of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) Program Advisor Committee. We encourage management from our stores to work with the business associations in their respective neighbourhoods.

I absolutely recommend asking to sit in Tata’s section as you will enjoy his professional service. Every Sawmill team member my party encountered, were absolutely lovely and this created a want for nothing (luxurious) atmosphere. It has been a while since I have had a truly lovely experience from start to finish. Kudos to the Manager for the training and creating a positive team culture!! The prime rib as always was absolutely delicious. I would like to thank the entire team (back of house, front of house and management) for making our experience so enjoyable.

He took beverage orders for the table but completely skipped over my table mate. I felt bad for her as she sat and watched everyone else enjoy theirs. Someone else found a very long hair in her food.The barmaid was a little sour and lied about drink service being over until someone called her on it (the cutoff time had be shared earlier). This was surprising as I'm sure she made a killing off of the thirsty crowd there that night. This is definitely not a place to go on a tight budget... If the service and atmosphere were more becoming I would give a 5 star rating for the delicious food/ drinks and come here instead of the keg!

The food was incredibly delicious and our server Raj was amazing!! He was friendly, he took good care of us and he gave us a slice of cheesecake with a sparkler in it and “happy anniversary” written in chocolate sauce, he definitely knows how to make guests feel special! We’d definitely come back to see him, by far one of the best servers we’ve experienced. Overall, had a great time here, very very impressed!

Arrived Sunday shortly after 11am to discover they are not open until 3pm. I'm a big brunch fan, and this is an odd time to open for brunch. Nothing worse than pulling on closed doors when your hungry and looking forward to food. Maybe block or take down the huge Sunday brunch sign, would show value to your customers. There were three other people who showed up and did the same thing. #simple fix #customer service #false advertising Came back for dinner: 4 stars Nice place, great atmosphere, and awesome menu! I was a bit undecided, so I went with undecided ( that's what it's called) steak, shrimp and ribs. All in all a great meal, quality food, and their sesame sauce is wicked! I did order a rare steak and got a medium, but still tasted great. And was given a ceasar that wasn't on the menu that I didn't order, but was replaced with no issues. And I stole some York shire pudding from my friends plate, and that was also on point. Would definitely go here again! Overall 3 stars for both of my experiences.

I highly recommend going here for date night or just to have a few drinks with friends. Raj is a great addition to this team and I will definitely come back to see him.

Garlic mashed are indescribably delicious. Cant forget the salt and pepper chicken wings - crispy and DELICIOUS!! Prices are in line with other restaurants of this caliber.
