About Save-On-Foods

At Save-On-Foods, going the extra mile is nothing new. Actually, we’ve gone above and beyond in all areas of our business since we started, way back in 1915. Originally, we were called Overwaitea Food Group because of the founder’s practice of selling 18 ounces of tea for the price of 16, and the name “overweight tea” stuck. Fast forward over 100 years and that name has changed, but we’re still known for delivering extra value to our customers. Today our company is best known for its most prominent banner—Save-On-Foods—but also includes PriceSmart Foods, Urban Fare and Bulkley Valley Wholesale.

Everything you need and so much more! Always bright clean and well stocked. The deli selection is great, hand made daily sandwiches are excellent for a quick inexpensive lunch, meat counter is great and always staffed with knowledgeable attentive staff all around. Produce section is always wonderfully stocked with great fruit and veg, also a good variety of gluten free and vegan options available as well, and of course if you need a pick me up there is a Starbucks conveniently located at the front of the store.

Recently this store has had quite nice items that are accessible to individuals who are on part time or cut back work hours

Such a pleasant shopping experience! The staff are always super friendly and helpful. EDIT: Changed from 5 stars to 3 because when I go in to shop and ask to use the washroom, they make it very difficult to do so. The last time I shopped there, I asked an employee for access to the washroom, as both of them have signs on them that say β€˜out of service’. Hmmm… The employee told me that he didn’t have a code, and that I would have to find security personnel to get them to open it. What kind of customer service is this?? So, after spending a few minutes of my precious time trying to track security down, I went to customer service for assistance as I was extremely frustrated. Tip: Safeway in Oliver Square keeps both their washrooms open and unlocked for customer use. I appreciate that. As a customer, I should have the option to use the washroom (for washing hands, etc).

This store.. I went in one day and I didnt want to walk down an aisle cause a big security(police was walking down it in my direction. So I went down another aisle. Guess my.cop fodnt like it and was hurt about it, cause they put another officer to watching me, made . She sat there and looked st my stuff I was getting, shampoo, conditioner etc. Like she was supposed to be inconspicuous and all. A baby anarchist woulda spotted that you know? Talk about insulting. A grocery store has to treat customers like thst, cause a security guy got emotional hurt... I have schizophrenia...I would've walked down smotger sidle anyway no matter who was there. I*ll be boycotting this store for life. Wish there was a lower rating zi*d gove negative then stars. A grocery s treats people like that?? Cmon.

During a stay in Edmonton in November 2018, I stopped by this Save-On-Foods to buy some basic grocery supplies for my hotel room so as not to get sick of eating out everyday. I found this grocery location to be clean and well-organized. Produce looked fresh. Staff members were friendly. I was however, a bit disappointed with some of the products I purchased. I bought some olives from the produce area, β€œwestern family” (store) brand hummus and Havarti cheese from the store’s deli and none of them tasted good to me so I ended up throwing them away at my hotel. But, a some of the other things I bought were alright such as apples, carrots, diet soft drinks, etc.

DO NOT order groceries online from here, if you have no choice then be prepared to maybe get half the order you asked for and be told how lucky you are that they will actually deliver it all. Don't pay extra for poor service and quality assurance.

Pretty standard store; cleaner floors than most grocery stores I've been in to be honest.Check out their buffet and lunch options too if you get a chance.

This store is very well organized, have a big variety in diverse foods such as Gluten free, vegan and others, natural, biodegradable and eco-friendly products, and normal groceries too. But it is Pricey. Their deli area is big too and lots of choices. The staff wasn't very friendly but give them a break, it is fine I guess, retail itself is a challenging job.
