We had a lovely family dinner here - there was a table for 4 tucked away in the corner. It was perfect for us and our two toddlers. From the minute we booked a reservation, we were treated to impeccable yet friendly service (a far cry from our experience at Sushi House), and the servers made us feel right at home, offering little extras for the kids and suggestions regarding the menu. Now, this is not a cheap meal. No, you will pay top dollar to eat in small sushi and sukiyaki restaurant tucked away in the most prestigious hotel in the area. But you will get your money's worth. Every slice of fish was expertly handled, every seasoning in the cooked items were perfected, every plate was artfully presented. It was a luscious meal, and a treat for the tastebuds as well as for the eyes.

It was just ok . The service was however great. I've been to samurai sushi in Mt Tremblant and it was incredible .this place is no different than a basic sushi joint but twice as expensive and I dont usually mind paying for an expensive meal so long as it's worth it. The quality wasnt anything impressive . Miso soup was the equivalent of the soup you can get in a powdered form in a grocery store . Sushi was fresh but it lacked in flavor , and presentation compared to some high end sushi joints I have visited .

It's good sushi. Not the best ever, but certainly the best in the mountain region. You can tell the concept of the restaurant has been compromised to meet the demands of a large hotel, which is unfortunate. Expect to pay a bit more than usual. This isn't a big city by the ocean with an abundance of fresh fish

The sushi at samurai is quite good. The problem is that I expected the sushi to be excellent at this price point. Of course one should not look for value inside a Fairmont hotel but I guess I was expecting more. In addition to this, the servers couldn't pronounce the menu items properly and when they brought the sushi, our server pointed to them with a pair of chopsticks to try and identify the individual pieces. This practice is considered rude in Japan so I was surprised that nobody told the server, considering the number of potential clients from Japan.

This is as authentic of a sushi place as you can get in Banff. Absolutely great selection of fresh seafood, and the sushi masters are legitimate. The food was fresh and the sushi rice was one of the best I've ever had both in taste and texture. The servers are attentive and I didn't have an empty plate just idling in front of me.

I literally now book my time at Fairmont Banff Springs based on whether or not Samurai is open. Best Banff food experience every time without fail. Pictured below is the uni nigiri with a nori paste -- insanely delicious.

If you go to any $15 cheap buffet, you will find exactly the same quality of sushi and rolls as this restaurant have. I'm wondering those of people who rate here 4 or 5 stars even have experience of 'good' sushi

Overall: good sushi in a chill environment, the minus is the price but nothing you can't expect from an hotel restaurant (about $50/person). We ordered the boat (48 pieces of different rolls and nigiri).
