★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food was so good!! We got a lot of small plates, including the skewers. [The duck was very tender and the squid was delicious.] We also got the octopus wasabi dish, which had fresh wasabi and was quite spicy, but very good. The torched salmon sashimi was delicious and had such a soft texture- and the sauce on the chicken was super good! (We got the ice cream too, and it was tasty and had a nice chocolate topping.) :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I originally that this was a full Japanese restaurant but it seems to have a Korean crossover to it. The omakase was delicious, but I think the yakisoba was a bit of too much vinegar to it. The service here was good as well. Definitely would recommend giving this place a try.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We came here for lunch and the staff here are so friendly! The food was delicious ?. The karage chicken was so juicy inside and crispy on the outside. The fries were so flavorful and it was a generous portion. Highly recommend!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really nice mix of Japanese dishes. Would definitely go back. It was super fun with friends and drinks. Two small comments; The overhead lights in the back flickered like crazy, hopefully they fix that because it was bothersome. And the waitress wasn’t as attentive on drink orders for us. We had to try to flag her she never looked. Apart from that the food and atmosphere were really great.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To be quite frank, seeing as this place is in Banff, I really did not have super high hopes for its authenticity. But to my surprise, they pretty much hit the nail on the head.
In regards to aesthetics and service, Shoku provides a pleasant dining experience and almost makes you forget you are in the mountainous town of Banff.
After visiting Lake Louise, I was starving so we placed a big order! We ordered the Shoku Bibimpap, Pork Belly Bao, Pork Katus Bao, Korean Fried Chicken, and Takoyaki. From there Izakaya menu, I ordered the Chicken, Beef and Duck Skewers! The Bibimpap was excellent, the veggie fixings were so fresh and the beef was tasty. I really enjoyed both Boa, the steamed bun was done really well. The Takoyaki was super creamy. The KFC was probably my favourite item I ordered, it was SO good!! I also really enjoyed all the skewers, the duck was totally a hit for me!
Truthfully, everything we ordered was delicious! However, for the prices, the portions were rather small.
In summary, if you’re down in the mountains and craving Asian fusion, Shoku Izakaya should totally do it for you!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Insanely good food! The oysters especially were perfect and so fresh. The prices were great, the portions were filling! We tried one sushi roll and it was a nice sized roll! We also ordered and tried the pork katsu bao buns and they were delicious!! I could have eaten two. They also had a bit of a spicy taste to them. The appetizer we got was tako yaki and that was super tasty! 10/10 service was also excellent! I would definitely come back when I am there again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very good restaurant! Strongly recommended! If you want Japanese food, or after a freezing morning on the hill and want ramen, this is the right place. Shoku roll is very good, fresh salmon and good match of flavor and texture. Red devil calamari and fried shrimp is good as well. Miso soup on my day is too salty

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really great food, I wasn't super into the Tan Tan ramen which was the special today, it was a bit oily on top, but everything else was super great and delicious, the boys weren't really into seaweed being sprinkled on to everything, but the girls really liked it, so if you don't like seaweed on everything you have to say it in advance! (It's even on the french fries which I thought were delicious). The staff are very nice and the restaurant is beautiful.
