About Royal Duke Hotel
Constructed in 1928 the Royal Duke Hotel was formally known as the Willingdon and was a cornerstone of social life.
The Willie, as locals called it, was the landmark spot to meet friends in the heart of Okotoks.
The original structure was an immaculate 3 storey brick building. Named after the Governor General of Canada at the time (Freeman Freeman-Thomas, 1st Marquess of Willingdon), the Willingdon remains a very important part of Okotoks history.
The building has naturally gone through several changes over the years.
In August 2011, the Royal Duke Hotel was opened with a European inspired makeover introducing a modern look and feel for the hotel, restaurant & pub.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a meal on a Sunday lunchtime, was cooked badly, steak and mushroom pie was just all gristle...should have been braised for hours, but seemed to be just thrown in dish and baked 20 min..so tough meat and undercooked mushrooms....veggies I had were pretty much raw and sausages were Luke warm, with onion gravy and the onions were pretty raw....won't be going back...

Extremely friendly staff!
Great pub food!
Our table orders-
Duke Burger with fries- burger cook perfectly, loaded with bacon, cheese and mushrooms and didn't fall apart, great taste.
Taco Salad- big portion and tasted great.
Wings- good size, large portion and all the sauces had really good flavor- dill pickle, salt and pepper, hot.
This feels like a place if you went twice they would know your name and would feel like a 2nd home.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I like the food and the atmosphere. Service has always been good. Could use a few more adventurous beers on tap, maybe some more locals from High River Brewing or some from Calgary. I get it it's an Irish style pub so I don't expect a NEIPA but it would be superb.
A Saturday morning Caesar here recently saved my life :)
