The Heartland Cafe and Restaurant is a historical part of Okotoks and one of the most unique local dining experiences.

About Heartland Cafe & Restaurant

Built in 1902, this was originally the Baptist Church whose parishioners gathered here until 1935. It was then sold to the Okotoks Gospel Chapel, later to be known as the Okotoks Evangelical Free Church. They did significant repairs and modifications to the church, however, after more than 60 years, they outgrew the facility and sold it in 1997. Since then it has housed a garden boutique, gift store and most recently The Heartland Café.

S	Simon Green on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Prefect dining experience! Visited late Saturday lunchtime and sat outside on the patio. Enjoyed a perfectly cooked meal that was absolutely delicious (Creamy Tomato Pasta + Chicken with Pecans). Wife had a chicken wrap + salad and we each tried a different one of the draught beers (both good) and shared a dessert (well, I let my wife have the raspberries while I ate the rest that had all the chocolate, that classes as sharing, right?). Service was excellent - efficient and friendly, we had a nice chat with the server and left feeling like we were old friends. So we'll be back soon to say hello and try some of the other dishes on the menu that sounded very appetizing.

Service was small town friendly without being intrusive. If it is a nice day the patio is a good option. For those with disabilities or mobility issues please be aware of a flight of stairs to both the main dining room and the washroom.

However, some family friends recommended this place and it instantly took my breath away. The ambience is perfectly curated for their space and the food was unparalleled. Better than most dishes I’ve had in Calgary. They have a great understanding of their brand which makes them unique in a Concorde dominated industry. Can’t wait to go back!

The staff is warm and welcoming, it is truly one of the most unique venues, the food was delicious and the cocktails were a delight. Good wine list with reasonable prices. Our favorite dish was the beet risotto and the salmon tagliatelle.

This place is packed with wonderful Décor and time pieces. Best to call for a reservation as locals know where to go for fine dinning and plan for an old fashioned sit down meal as things are all prepped fresh. This requires time so slot more than an hour. From great ingredients in-house made pasta , sauces and dressings combined with delectable combinations and fine choose ingredients these meals are statement pieces at heart. We had a slight hiccup with one piece of the meal and not only did our server handle it impeccably graciously, managements took care of it beautifully. I can’t wait to go back and try more.
