M	Matt Gellis on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A couple of months ago, I woke from a dream convinced I had to try Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I have a couple of friends who've been training BJJ for a few years, and I suppose they finally succeeded in convincing me subconsciously. They recommended Roll, I stopped in one day to chat, and a couple of months later I'm 100% committed to practicing BJJ as a long term process. Everything about this place is fantastic. Professor Filip is awesome. There's a real family vibe here - Ryan, Mike, Jenny and Val are warm and friendly people. The space is open, clean and welcoming. And the people are really friendly. This is not an aggressive space. It's a place where people get together to improve themselves and each other. Last week I brought my 4 yr old daughter and 6 yr old son in, and I'm pretty sure they're hooked too. If you're walking on lower Lonsdale do yourself a favour and pop in to say hi. At the very least you'll meet some of the nicest business owners in the neighbourhood!
P	Paul on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Professor Filip Matos greets everyone with his contagious smile. This Brazilian Jiu-jitsu gym makes everyone comfortable. I've been to bunch of BJJ gyms and Roll is one of a kind. The coaching staff is phenomenal, Professor Filip, Coach Hayden and Coach Stefan all bring a high level of instruction and knowledge to the mats. There is no excuse not to try Roll Academy, they have classes available throughout the day, 7 days a week. 6am, Noon and numberous evening classes. Highly recommend this Gym.

Filip and the other instructors/coaches are very good at what they do, and they're quick to welcome you in as family. Definitely one of the best sportive clubs around, with some very high level competitors on the mats to help you improve. Beautiful club with an awesome viewing area on the 2nd floor in case you wanted to watch your kids progress, or simply watch a class before deciding to try it out yourself. Highly recommend.
J	Joshua Kramer on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow, that was amazing! Fantastic gym, professor, and vibe! I have always wanted to practice Jiu Jitsu and started at Roll Jiu Jitsu Academy. The gym is a home away from home with the mat, change rooms and coaches setting an excellent atmosphere. There is also an upstairs with couches and desks where you can relax before and after training as well as watch other classes. The location is perfect on Lonsdale and near the Quay. Mostly importantly, Professor Filipe is a skilled coaching who is able to explain complex techniques in simple to understand ways. We also get lots of practice.

Lessons are fun and effective. I have seen great improvement in my son’s technique and self confidence. We strongly recommend.

Professor Filip is a great instructor and fosters a very friendly and communal atmosphere. Very open to visitors and great people to train with. Also happens to be one of the most beautiful gyms in town. It's like training in an art gallery.

Professor Filip has put together a wonderful team of instructors that are dedicated, extremely friendly and truly love what they do. Not only are the instructors excellent, but the atmosphere among students is spectacular as well. I honestly can't recommend this place enough. Come drop by!

They have an amazing way of working with kids to instill discipline, inspire confidence, and enable amazing personal growth. Oh, and then there is the Jiu-Jitsu part too!
