About Ridgeview Medical Centre

A clinical clerk is a medical student who is in their final year of medical school.  Clinical Clerks will do placements in various specialties throughout their final year of schooling, prior to graduating and entering the residency program for their chosen specialty.   Clinical placements are especially important for clerks, allowing them to gain hands-on patient care experience.  Clinical Clerks may initiate your appointment, but you will always be seen by a licensed physician prior to your appointment ending.

I was treated at this walk-in clinic last week while staying on holiday in Canmore and normally I don't write reviews but I just had to let any future customers know how bad this place is. First of all they make you take your shoes/boots off before you even enter so you have to walk on the dirty grimy floors and carpets just in your socks. Secondly, they made me wait an hour just to be seen even though there was nobody else in there, which can be understandable considering doctors do tend to get busy from time to time. But what really irritated me is that I went in there for a really bad cough, migraine, and nasal congestion. The Doctor told me to stop taking over the counter medicine, & start using seawater nasal care...eventually it would go away. One week later and I am still sick with the same horrible symptoms and actually went to another walk-in clinic today and was prescribed antibiotics. So over all, it was a bad experience and just a waste of time coming to this facility.

Website says they're taking new patients... they're not. Website says they're doing Covid Testing... they're not. Website says you can pre-book walk in times... you can't. Even the message at the beginning says that if you're unhappy with the covid response, talk to your MPP... we don't have those in Alberta (they're called MLA's). Generally, a pretty disappointing experience. Although, the receptionist was friendly, after waiting about 20 minutes to talk to her.

As a desperate mother with a child who is unwell and as a physician myself, if my front end staff treated my patients the way I was treated I would fire them on the spot. It is so important to remember that people are calling because they need help and not to inconvenience you.

I went to this place often as a kid and they used to be extremely helpful and was one of the best clinics in town. Came back today with the referral of a hearing specialist due to a blockage that needs to be cleared immediately, I have no hearing in one of my ears and I'm fearful that if it doesn't get cleared soon I could suffer permanent ear damage. The receptionist actually told me to call them to book an appointment (which I would have done if I could have? At least I still have hearing in one ear but imagine if I didn't. There's also no way to book an appointment through email or anything other then calling apparently which is pretty limiting to those who may not be able to hear which is kinda awful for a health care facility. There should always be accommodations for people who may be hard of hearing, blind, ect.) while the other rep booked the last time slot for the day right in front of me. I asked to make an appointment for tomorrow and they couldn't do that either despite having tons of openings so I had to go to the hospital instead. I understand being fully booked isn't really their fault but she was kinda pretty rude about the whole thing while I'm scared and in tears over possibly losing my hearing. It is double as bad that I had to go to the hospital instead for this who has been incredibly accomadating and are actually taking my situation seriously along with giving me plenty of help and resources to find a family doctor in Canmore so I don't have to go through this again.

I’m not typically one to write poor reviews. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, especially receptionists who I’m sure receive a lot of abuse in their days. However, this was absolutely uncalled for and I am quite hurt and frustrated. I saw a doctor through the Telus Health app due to concerns regarding my lungs and heart. The doctor sent me a requisition for an echocardiogram and a 24 hr holter monitor after some concerns with an ECG. As I’m waiting for my upcoming appointments, the doctor encouraged me to visit a walk-in clinic so that an β€˜in-person’ doctor can do a physical examination (lung sounds, heart sounds, blood pressure because how else would I know if I’m hypertensive?) Today, August 7, my partner called on my behalf as I was sleeping after coming off night shift. I had emailed my health care card, ID and new patient form prior. My partner explained that an online physician had requested that I see a doctor in person and that I just required a brief physical exam. The receptionist began yelling (yes, yelling) at her demanding more information or they would not be able to help me. She recommended going to the ER which makes absolutely no sense as this is not an acute medical emergency. In the end she said β€œIf I book him in he’ll have some explaining to do. I don’t know that we’ll even see him for this.” In the end, my partner did not allow them to book me in. We decided that we did not feel comfortable with the level of professionalism at this clinic. It’s quite disheartening as I’m feeling quite anxious about the state of my health and yet I’m essentially being turned away. Perhaps I’m missing something; but even so, it is absolutely uncalled for, as a receptionist, to yell at the people who call your clinic.

So this place is trying to charge me 200 bucks for a a missed appointment when I did not even live in town the manger that talked to on the phone was the most rude person I have ever talked to now they will not even help me unless I pay them I would recommend any where but this place just because of the rude office manger . I also need my proscription and was told by doctors not to skip days this lady tells me it's not her problem and I can't see a doctor go to the hospital so now I'm going to a busy hospital taking there time up instead of something that could have been done in 15 mins by phone .

I have an amazing doctor there.. but I've been trying to call for days and I can never get through. Really difficult to want to keep my doctor if I can't even get in touch with the clinic.

I have been a longterm patient to this clinic. 15+ years. I have gone through 4 different doctors since I started going because they keep leaving and being replaced. 2 great, and 2 awful! Now I am told my doctor is gone and the remaining doctors cannot take on extra patients so I'm SOL. They cannot tell me if they are hiring doctors to replace those who left. I have friends who have been going for only 5 years to this clinic, but they're somehow OK to stay. The receptionists keep repeating that there are no family doctors in the Bow Valley and no one is taking new patients. I used to manage medical practices for over 20 years and would never let this happen. There's a reason doctors don't like this clinic...probably not treated well or being charged through the nose to be there. It's never a full wait room. I called around and miraculously there are doctors in the Bow Valley who ARE taking patients. Who knew?? Badly managed, I feel sorry for the doctors working there and I'm embarrassed for them. I've never seen or heard of patients being abandoned like this at any practice I've known.
