This company is great at dealing with vanilla policy requirements and withdrawing your payments every month, but God help you if you need a non-standard adjustment to your policy. In my case it was staying in one home while the new home was having some pre move in renovations done. Well, after 8 plus hours wastes on the phone (I have the call logs to prove it), mostly on hold, I cancelled my existing policies and went to a new provider. The people on the phone are friendly and polite, but it's like dealing with robots. The process goes like this: Call RBC, told by automated system that wait was long so to leave a callback number. Get a callback an hour later, explain what I need then get asked a few questions and told that they need to discuss with the underwritter and put me on hold. On hold for 15 minutes... They return on the line, ask a few questions and told that they need to discuss with the underwritter and put me on hold. On hold for 15 minutes... The number of cycles varies from call to call but be prepared to set aside at least 3 hours. 1 hour for the callback and 2 hours for the question/hold cycle. The worst part as they come back with question that were clearly addressed during a previous cycle. I'm know as a call guy but people who know me, but not did I lose it on the guy on the phone. IF I could apologize to him for my outbreak I would, because he was a nice guy and it's not fault for the bureaucraric and soul crushing customer service model his company uses. I found a good broker with a smaller company and the process was great and human! We could email informations back and forth efficiently and get things closed quickly. Never again with RBC or an RBC type. I can't even imagine what it would have been like processing a claim with them.

I've never had any issues with claims with RBC or access to them. What I do have a problem with is that my insurance rates have went up by 35% over the past two years and there is no justification when I call. The insurance agents simply state that our rates go up every year.

I was 7 years with RBC insurance now RBC Aviva insurance for both my home (paid policy in full upfront) every year, Auto Insurance & life. My experatation date had ended on my credit card used to make installment payments on auto policy only. So the payment went NSF. My yearly policy for auto had just renewed. Not realizeing I was sent a letter stating your policy was canceled in 15 days. Hoping to not have any interruption in service I offered to pay the polacy premium in full (1 pay) as I do my house insurance & they still where unwilling to continue coverage. I have a clean driving record with zero claims ever. I was told by RBC that I would have to re apply and the only acceptable for is written application not over the phone & would take 3 to 4 weeks to re issue a policy. You see this was done by RBC Aviva so they can raise premiums. What s joke shame on Royal Bank of Canada for putting their name on this garbage business practice!!

Very bad insurance advisor named Lee Choo Lim, who suggested us cash out our 15 years policy, which return rate 20% this year. Also, for tax reason, RBC gave us a good increase, but she despised us too lower sum no room for tax. Even more she was pretending the best advisor based on RBC request, let us answer food cost, utilities and property tax... I rejected. Then I received updated no increased policy. Comparing 2 policy, I realized RBC's suggest was good. I called Lim who sarcastic :why increased again? I lost my patient, I called the director who said need 10 business day to change an advisor.
