Proper Barbers Inc.

Chico has been cutting my hair for the better part of three years. I was super excited when he opened up his own shop. Proper Barbers is a laid back yet professional atmosphere. They are great with all their customers and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. The best fades in the city at a great price. I have no reason to visit another barber because these guys are simply the best. I look good every time I leave this place. A big thanks to Chico and Proper Barbers.

The service was amazing, the people were amazing and most importantly the haircut and beard work was amazing! Everyone was really fun and enthusiastic about what they did. Big shoutout to Chiko for his amazing skills at cutting hair. This is my new hair stop in Toronto. Everyone Should definitely check it out if they want fresh cuts.

Probably the most unprofessional barbershop in the city. They do not adhere to appointment times and if you are not "cool" enough for them (I.e. your look and style), they will flat out deny cutting your hair. I do not recommend.

I have been 3 times and had my hair cut by 3 different barbers each did an amazing job. Best 3 hair cuts I have had in a very long time. They also do a full beard touch up and shave. I recommend you give them a try!

This is a great little hole in the wall. The barbers are very talented and friendly. I got my haircut by Chico last time and he did a fantastic job. I think the only thing keeping them away from 5 stars for me is the location. But this is partly why I love the place as well, considering it's out of the way and usually less busy.

Made an appointment for 6pm and the guy didn’t even show up or say he was going to be late. I had two other barbers offer to cut my hair but I said no because I had an appointment for 6pm. If I knew was not going to show up, I could have went with someone else. I just left at 6:20pm and by then the other barbers were busy. No one working there bothered to call him and ask when we was coming. Very disappointed! It was my first appointment there.

I read these reviews and decided to try out this place. My first impression was that it fit right into Kensington markets culture. However my experience was far from plesent. My barber was Jordan, he seemed cool expect he did not say a single word to me. I told him what I wanted a fade and a beard line up. The hair cut itself wasn't terrible however, the time he spent on fading seemed a little ridiculous to me. It took him an hour and a half to give a simple fade and he didn't do anything to the top of my head.... He started to line up my beard and did not do any prep to soften my beard hairs. He just went into using straight razor on my face. Since the lack of preparation in prepping my face he cut my face as well as giving me sever razor burn which lasted a few days. At the end of the shave he grabbed a hot towel to clean my face off, which I found surprising since I saw the other barbers use the hot towel before and after the shave for the other customers… Not only did the haircut and shave take a longer then I expected he also messed up my line neck line up. After I went home I noticed that they had messed up my line up. I returned immediately to talk to the owner of the store to voice my complaints however, he wasn’t there. I showed the other barbers my neckline up and they laughed saying that I shouldn’t have been able to leave the store like that. They then informed they could not help me and would need the owner’s authorization to do anything. They gave me a solution of waiting in the store indefinitely until the owner returned which was unreasonable. I left a note instead for the owner asking me to call me, so we could figure out a solution for the appalling service I received. I instead fixed me line up my self which is insane when I paid for a service and had to fix the mistakes of their barber. I've also attached some pictures of my face after the cut. You can see that the skin on my face is red and my neckline up looks like a staircase... I paid money to go home and redo a line up that should have been done properly
