We have taken our Subaru, Land Rover and Toyota to Pro-Active and have always been extremely happy with the service, price and outcome. They are so knowledgeable they come up with solutions you won't get anywhere else. Highly recommend.

Only shop I have found who understands AHC (Automatic/Active Height Control) in Lexus/Toyota. Reasonable price and friendly service.

After paying over $2000, I'm finding lack of attention to detail that is frustrating to correct. In short, tasks not done to completion, repairs not done properly, nuts not tightened, cutting corners, and hoses/components not reattached to holding clamps. 2 years ago (Oct 2019), I brought in a 2005 V8 4Runner for [CV reboot, cam & camshaftseal, and valve cover gasket replacement]. I haven't taken the vehicle to another shop as it hasn't required major servicing (I do my own regular maintenance). I expected to trust a reputable shop in repairs, but I'm now seeing loose ends pop up. * All the following tasks were required for job access as per Factory Service Manual * 1. Coolant return hose - about a year and a half ago, I noticed a burning smell and coolant leak around the fan. The coolant reservoir was low after top up and the fan tips were blackened with rubber. The coolant return hose to the reservoir wasn't seated back on the clamp under the radiator trim, got loose, and was chopped in half by the fan. Coolant wasn't returning to the reservoir and leaking onto the fan. $7 hose fix and hose has stayed seated in its clamp… 2. Fan Nuts - about a year ago, I started hearing a rattling noise; two of the fan nuts were loose and almost coming off, others were tight. I retightened and added witness paint to check movement. One year later, they haven't budged… 3. Gaskets (edit: plug gaskets were installed in tabs, but some tabs were over bent, also some washers were installed backwards!) - I've noticed some oil leaking from 3 of 8 ignitor coils. On removal, I see the plug gaskets for the ones leaking are slit/punctured at tab and look twisted from outside. Ended up replacing two of the ignitors (browned from oil leak) and new valve cover gasket kit since the covers will be removed to correct the plug gaskets… 4. Water Inlet Housing Leak * this is attached to the WP * - This is tucked away under the air intake box and hose to throttle so isn't readily visible. I've recently noticed a mild coolant leaking onto my alternator that’s been ongoing as there are corroded stains around the engine block. It's traced to the water inlet housing oring. However, they used (edit: grey) FIPG to attempt to seal the leak. The Factory Service Manual does not call for FIPG as the Oring seals the two metal surfaces and FIPG hardening oring may have exacerbated the leak. Also it was the same color/texture as FIPG on the mating surface to the water pump (edit: was billed for Permatex grey for valve cover application), so may have been applied at the same time the water pump was reinstalled after the job. Could have informed me about the leak, as Oring is a $9 part. Ended up draining some coolant and replacing the oring. Cost me another jug of coolant. 5. Fan Shroud - inspecting the coolant leak, I found that the fan shroud wasn't seated properly and some fresh zip ties linking the cracks where it seemed they tried to jam the shroud back into its lower slot but missed. Also, the hoses were left to dangle around as they weren't placed back onto the clamps (Hmmm, see point #1). On inspection, the clamps were in good condition and not loose, the hoses held fine once reclamped. So someone just "forgotten" to put the things back. Summary: I can't recommend the shop at the moment. As you can see, all minor little things all linked together with risk of causing a bigger issue. Maybe I'm wrong, but the issues are suspiciously linked. I see good reviews about the master techs, but not sure if the hard part of the repairs were done by the master techs and then finished by apprentices with work that wasn't checked. Or not sure if their techs keep juggling multiple tasks or get distracted. The lack of attention to minor details may have been detrimental to someone not mechanically inclined. Hopefully they actually cleaned and regreased by CV joints and not just swapped on new boots. Service advisors were friendly and knowledgeable though.

Brought in my right hand drive Subaru Forester for a gas leak that no one was able to find at the other shops I brought it to. Pro-Active found the leak, fixed the leak (and the hole in my tire) and worked with me on the limited timeline that I had so I could get my car back when I needed it! They were kind and so very helpful! Will recommend and will bring my car back again when needed. Thanks again!!!

My clutch malfunctioned the day after I arrived In town from Vancouver Isand. I brought my vehicle in to the shop for repairs. This wonderful automotive shop, even though completely swamped for the week, were able to get me back on the road within 2 days, and checked to ensure I would not have any other issues for my return trip home. Wonderful service, reasonably priced! I am very thankful to have taken my vehicle to them. Highly recommended!!

Dean and the crew at Pro-Active have been treating us well for the last 5 years. I really like working with them because they are honest, and yes, they do come out less expensive than most but the real reason is because they only actually recommend the work that is needed on a vehicle. Creative solutions, meticulous work, and the utmost in customer service are all rare qualities of businesses. If you are looking for an honest shop that is proud to stand by their work, give them a shot. We built a jeep rubicon with them ground up, and now they help us maintain our aging work and commuter vehicles to keep our cost of ownership low, and keep our vehicles on the road. Thanks for being awesome.
