Pride & Groom

My dog (Nova, 6 months old) had his first ever grooming and it was perfect. Staff is friendly, answered all my questions, made sure we felt welcomed. We got a bath, hair and nail trimming took about 2 hours.

I was very disappointed. The staff were fine but seemed overwhelmed, several dogs being groomed. The grooming, which takes about 90 minutes at our usual, but unavailable, place, took 4 hours. The charge was over $100 (I had been quoted about $80, though they had never groomed her before), and they didn't really listen to my instructions. She has a retriever tail and it was stripped off. I cannot recommend this place, and will not return. Sorry. My one star is because I think the people were well-intended. I received a response from the owner, (below) and need to correct her view. 1.) Our dog had been groomed two months before, and she was not matted. Her fur was about 2 inches long at best. 2.) She was not groomed as short as we had asked her to be. I feel that it is important to know that we had provided written instructions and spoken to the people as well. After 6 months, her "retriever tail" is finally returning to the wonderful look it had before being stripped. Recommendation: Please listen to the owners when grooming a dog for the first time.

I get Leroy's nails clipped, which is somehow impossible when I try and add a shampoo to make it a "spa" afternoon for my little man. He loves people and other dogs so it's fun for him (not sure about when they clip him :) and he always comes home sooooo soft, shiny and smelling like a bed of roses! Then there's the compliments at the dog park. Pride and Groom makes papa proud for sure, highly recommended! Don't just trust my word, see for yourself...

Great service at a great price. Plus, as a testament to their character - the owner offered to assist when our van got stuck in the back laneway. She helped dig me out, got her own van stuck, dug her out, and she was all smiles about it at the end of a long work week. Good people that help others in time of need!

HORRIBLE service! I stopped by hoping to get my dog in for a nail trim. The door was locked, understandable these days, but there was a doorbell to ring for access, so I rang it, and waited. And waited. Tried ringing it again, and again they ignored it, even though I could see them walking around inside. Tried calling their number, and they ignored that too, even though an employee came out into reception, looked STRAIGHT at me, and chose to ignore both me and the ringing phone. I will NEVER come back or recommend them to anyone else. Save your money for people who actually want your business!!

I am so happy with Dawn and the rest of the staff, that I had to leave a rating right away! After previous unpleasant attempts at another grooming company, I am beyond thrilled with the results of our first visit with pride and groom. My little 2 yr old yorkie, came out with the most beautiful grooming I had ever seen! Everything was done just perfectly. The previous groomers that I had used, suggested sedation for out little puppy, because he was snappy when someone went near his face. Again, they told me to up my dose so my dog would be calm. Even after that, they suggested using tranquillizers because regular sedation was not enough! When I knew in my heart that something was not right, and I would not tranquilize a little yorkie, I knew I had to try Dawn at pride and groom after that. Her place of business was calm, with no dogs lined up in crates. I warned her about the previous groomer and the sedation requests. Dawn was not even hesitant to give my dog a try, drug free. When I picked him up, he looked perfect. And she said in no way did he need to be sedated! I believe it’s her atmosphere and most importantly, her very gentle nature with dogs and her skills of course. Thank you so much Dawn. I will refer you to everyone I know! Max

I cannot recommend Dawn and her crew enough! I have a 7-month old chow who had an incredibly positive first groom experience thanks to the staff at Pride and Groom. But first, a little background on my girl: Chows are notorious for being shy and aloof towards strangers, and—unfortunately—due to poor byb, have been sensationalized as ‘aggressive dogs’. My pup is definitely wary of strangers, but she quickly warms up and even becomes curious of the people around her if given some time to adjust. Needless to say, because of their notoriety, I had an incredibly difficult time finding a groomer that would accept my pup. Most groomers I called declined my inquiry as soon as they heard ‘chow’. Thankfully, someone recommended Pride & Groom to me. I inquired about their grooming service and Dawn booked us in with no hesitation. On the day of our appointment, I could tell my girl was nervous. Dawn tried to take her to the back, but she growled at her. I asked Dawn if I could stay with my pup for the appointment to help calm her and she happily obliged. We put a muzzle on her while Dawn clipped her nails. Within a few minutes, my pup started to relax and allowed Dawn to touch her with no complaints. By the time she had her bath (15-20 mins into the appointment), her muzzle was off and she was letting staff touch her all over. I stayed with my pup until the drying portion and stayed out of the room for the final touch ups. Dawn did mention that she started to get a little grumpy as she was trimming her paws, but that overall she did well! She also said that my pup had a pretty good temperament (which honestly felt extremely validating considering our overall experience). Overall, I am extremely grateful to Dawn for truly considering what my pup needed and allowing her to warm up to the groom on her own terms. I’m fairly certain had Dawn not allowed me to stay, we would have had a completely different experience. Here’s a photo of my girl a few days after her groom (she was spayed the day after, hence the cone). I honestly couldn’t stop cuddling and petting her because of how soft and fluffy her fur was; I completely forgot to snap a pic of her right after the groom.

Very happy! First time customer and will definitely be back. Perfect grooming job on my 60lb Golden Doodle. Friendly staff and got him in and out in a timely fashion. Highly recommend!!!
