David Nguyen, founder of Po-ke grew up and spent the majority of his life in Vancouver, moved to Winnipeg before settling into Calgary, and calling this place home. Cindy Nguyen, co-founder of Po-ke born and raised Calgarian lived here all her life.
In early 2016, David and Cindy began a romantic relationship. It was then that their love of food and travel was how David had his first taste of pokè and was instantly hooked. During a trip to Los Angeles California, Cindy took David to Venice beach. There she left him waiting on the beach for over an hour while she ventured off to get some food. She returned with vibrant pokè bowl in hand. She gave him the first bite and that’s when he knew it was something special. He looked at her and said “Do we have anything like this in Calgary?” and the answer was “no” and that’s how the idea of Po-ke was born.
Returning home they began to make their dreams a reality by bringing the traditional Hawaiian dish with the incorporation of Japanese and West Coast flavors to Calgary. At Po-ke we only source the freshest ingredients to give you the highest quality products that you can taste. We believe in a healthy lifestyle. Not only does our food look good, it tastes great.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just bought a poke bowl from this place. I've purchase before. They allow 5 toppings, before, they allow you to choose 2 of the same toppings, but all of a sudden, they say can not double up an item. Anyways, there are lots poke places now. I am going to avoid this place. Doing business like you are the only business around is not acceptable. I would suggest the owner to change their signage to 5 differnt items and now 5 items.
I don't recommend this place for their cusotmer service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nothing amazing - fish was fresh which was nice, but the sauces were medicore and didn't add an awful lot of flavor (got the classic I think it was called?) They did make the brown rice taste better than expected which was nice. The oranges used weren't that sweet which was a let down.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been buying food here consistently for over 3 years. Recently, portions got incredibly STINGY. When you're paying $35 for two bowls, they should be robust and filling the container. Please go back to your previous process or risk losing customers like me.

Picky? Build your own bowl! A great assortment of healthy and fresh ingredients, you will definitely find something you like.
Prices of around $12-15, this is a hearty meal that will keep you going like the energizer bunny.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love the packaging! The bowl itself also packs so much, and if you order the build your own bowl, you're presented with so many options to choose from. I can only comment on the salmon since that's the only protein I order, but I never have complaints, super fresh. The best portion to get IMO is three scoops of protein. They use quality products and the ingredients always seem to be fresh in every order I get.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best poke places in Calgary, they actually let you choose the stuff to put into the bowl and there aren’t many of those here. I love the variety of ingredients that they have and it’s always yummy for me.
My only recommendation would be for them to get Kale noodles, it’s sooo good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A solid 3.5 overall. It's a nice spot that hits the mark with a craving for poke. Pricing ranges from $10-18 (depending on size and also topping/type). Their Po-Ke special bowl was very unique and you get heavy flavours from the overall bowl (the mandarins actually are a good mix to it) I found that the saucing was too heavy on the bowl which overpowered many other toppings along with the sushi rice flavour. Quantity of toppings was ok (heavier on some toppings than others such as seaweed salad and mandarins vs avocado, fish). The musubi side was also ok - rice didn't stick together too well and was a little too salty for my liking.
Good cozy ambiance in this shop - well kept and clean. Service was ok - very straight to the point.
