Overall I found Mitchell's Island to be a rather different type of place. During the day, it's an industrially zoned work area, primarily consisting of businesses on the larger scale size wise or businesses that would be considered to be industrially zoned. During the evening though when the majority of the businesses are closed up and the majority of the people, places or things have gone home for the day...I find the feeling and vibe of Mitchell's Island to be rather different than that of the daytime...to say the least!! One might describe the feeling as spooky or just down right creepy in my opinion! It's not the kind of place I found myself wanting to really linger once the sun has gone down... so definitely something to keep in mind I'd say. Other than the odd cab and of course the police drones that fly about over head doing their due diligence in attempts to keep the surrounding areas safe from crime and etc...well you could just imagine how eerie or creepy that area might appear to come off to folks, ESPECIALLY, if you've had little to no experience being in such areas what with the zoning differences and such. One might not feel as comfortable as they would in a more city like place such as Vancouver, for example, a city that pretty much never sleeps!!! It definitely takes some getting used to...as for the actual storage facility in front of Platinum Marine...well it fits right in with Mitchell Island's vibe...spooky! It's the spill over of another storage facility place located a short distance from this actual site. This area primarily consists of old shipping containers made into storage lockers that are rented out and used for a number of different purposes. One would have to be in contact with the owner to finalize with any great detail exactly what their purpose would end up being, other than storage, at this sites location. As mentioned previously there are 2 separate sites on Mitchell Island...there main site consisting of about 100 or so lockers and is accessible from two completely different entrances. The spot located in front of Platinum Marine is there secondary site, which is less frequented as well as say 1/3 of the size and primarily for more long term tenants with bigger storage needs then as there more main location a few blocks away. This location would more than likely go unrecognized as a storage facility pretty much any day of the week...as it isn't well marked NOR are there many other signs at the other more main site either, with regards to any additional storage space or anything else at all offered in the name of storage! So best of luck to you or whomever makes an attempt to secure some storage units out here for the price is devilishly low and the requirements needed to rent/secure one of these units is a lot less than the majority require from its renters! So here's to packing and flailing through those extra items one might use or find the need to seek out such storage for! Be safe and always use the buddy system, plus it's always more fun with a friend along for the ride right!?
