Hands down the best experience I had so far having someone working on my boat. In the past year's anytime I needed work done I ended up waiting for weeks. But when I met Eric at Nordmanner, he told me the job will be done in a week. And to my surprise the week after, I was riding the boat in Barnet marina The best shipwright I met

I had a small repair on my rudder, I though It would be interesting to learn how to fiberglass on my rudder, I ask the Nordmanner-team if they could show me and supervise me for this rudder repair. They setup up a repair area for me in their shop and I was taught how to fiberglass my own rudder under supervision by the Nordmanner-team, a must for any boat owner. In short, excellent service and very professional. They will take time to explain and find the best solution for your boat, highly recommended.

I have a completely refurbished Morgan 384, which is a great boat, except it has a relatively small propeller aperture. I’ve been running with various under-sized prop for years, but I dreaded having to cut into my boat to enlarge the prop aperture. Finally this Spring, I decided to β€˜face the music’ and contemplate enlarging my prop aperture. I took my problem to Erik and Ady at Nordmanner Marine; and I am sure glad I did. Within 24 hours I had Eric at my boat assessing the job, and in another 24 hours I had a written estimate and shortly thereafter had a signed work agreement. Within a weeks my boat was on-the-hard at Shelter Island Marina; and the surgery on my boat started within an hour of arrival. The cutting, laminating, re-shaping and fairing took a week; which included some additional fairing of the boat rudder (as a change order to the original job). I was able to visit the job every day, and can say how it was done, and how efficiently the Nordmanner β€˜guys’ work and the care and attention they pay to every detail. I ran my boat with the larger aperture, and even though I still have an undersized prop, I gained 1.5 knots in cruising speed and the noise and vibration I had previously felt was mostly gone. So far so good, I have now found a feathering prop that will work, and can be safely installed thanks to the enlarged aperture. I’ve chosen a 4-blade 19” Variprop, which which should make cruising under power even smoother and less noisy. Can hardly wait to do more cruising and leave my prop worries behind!! If you’re interested in quality, cost & time effective and professional work on you boat, you can’t go wrong here, at Nordmanner. Highly recommended. N Michael Ross Vancouver, Canadaj

Stay Away! My husband and I were both clients. We were both present at the initial assessment of work to be done and we both spoke with Eric on several occasions as the work as being done. In July, 2019, we came away from a 4.5-month repair on our CHB trawler at a cost of $53,909 (which was over budget) with very mixed thoughts and feelings about the overall process. There were issues related to billing and communication and these could have been ignored if all the work done on the boat reflected pride, care and professional craftmanship that was expected. There were 4 repairs projects: Fly Bridge, Aft Cabin, Swim Grid and Railings/Gunwales. Work done on each project was had both positive and negative aspects. Work on the Fly Bridge was very well done, and we were pleased with the repair on the cowling and the upper fly deck. However, Eric had assured us that the job also entailed putting new pieces of plywood under the cowling in the aft section that had some rot. This was asked about several times and was told that it was a β€œsmall job” and would be done as part of the overall job. But this was not done and left the work looking incomplete and unsightly. There was extensive rot in the aft cabin walls around the windows. The rot was removed and walls were repaired. From the outside the work looked well done and, as expected, was brought to the painting stage. The repair to the interior cabin walls, unfortunately, left us with mixed assessment of the care and craftmanship of work done. Some of the issues: (1) attachment of the corner wood panels were not completed with wood plugs but with screws that were not properly countersunk and were crooked…looks shoddy, (2) the quarter round trim under the small port side window not measured and cut properly the first time leaving a one inch gap. The repair to that measurement error was to cut a one-inch piece to fill the gap and glue it in… looks shoddy, and (3) repair to the starboard aft window when first completed seemed fine but Eric said he was going to redo the window to ensure it would not leak, however, the newly installed window is larger and the original teak trim no longer fit. Some of the new veneer was also damaged. We were now left with a rather unsightly looking aft cabin window area and were extremely disappointed. Yes, Eric did let us know that for an additional cost of about $1,000 the window could be trimmed but we have since had work done elsewhere for considerably less. Regarding the swim grid, Eric found an unanticipated problem and did a very sound repair. With that positive however, there was once again an incomplete job with the final finishing of bottom coat paint not added to the repair areas. A small issue but just seemed to reflect an overall lack of care and attention to detail. We had work done on the teak railings and gunwales. After these had the varnish removed, were sanded and then teak oiled that finishing work should have been protected. What happened was that a lot of product used for other repair work dripped on the railings and gunwales essentially ruining the finishing work. We had to re-sand and re-teak the whole starboard side which then left us thinking that the $2,500 paid Nordmanner for that project was a waste of funds as we had to re-do the work. The kiwi grip outdoor flooring on the boat was in rough shape, nonetheless, a protective covering should have been put down as a lot of product was spilled and dripped during the Nordmanner repair leaving it looking even more unsightly. Yes, it has since been scrapped and repainted since but we did not ask Nordmanner to do the work. Overall, this project was over budget, well over the estimated completion time and did not leave us positive experience with Nordmanner. All these concerns were provided to Nordmanner in extensive client feedback at completion of the project.

Ady and Erik took great care of me and my boat. I have a small outrigger canoe and had a rudder problem, which was fixed quickly and efficiently. They can take care of any problem, whether your boat is big or small, rest assured they are prompt, courteous and super professional! Thank you :)

I had a window for my boat that needed to be resealed. Took it to several glass shops who wouldn’t touch it. When I came across Nordmanner, they were knowledgeable and happy to take on the job. They did a great job and I’m very happy with their work and friendly service!

Don’t bring your boat here . They claim to have experience in doing certain repairs but over the course of several months have come to the conclusion they don’t . Tried to get the window repaired but over the course of several months just keep getting samples of acrylics that don’t match . They then say they need to go with a different manufacturer ( who can’t know who they are ) and then gets delayed more . Had to take boat there 3 times for measurements before they finally take the windshield off . No parking for boats either so each trip was a run out to a lane way and then take boat home each time . Just know what your getting yourself into before dealing with these people . Not a good experience for us at ALL !
