We had hoped to celebrate our milestone publicly, but those plans were impacted by the public health emergency.

We will be adding content to this page in the coming months, so check back soon.

Our history
We’ve come a long way since our early beginnings. Take a look at our journey from 1970 to today.

I came to live at Parkdale in 2014. I live in one of the "handi-adapted" units. (one or two on each of the six floors). The building is wheelchair accessible, except my personal suite has a big heavy door which has always been a problem when I want to go out alone. This is subsidized housing through Capital Region Housing, so you go apply with them first. Plenty of different sized apartments, with balconies, for singles or families. Small pets are allowed for an extra amount on your security deposit. And Parking is an extra monthly fee. Bit of a rough neighborhood but good security system and your neighbors adhere to the strict rule not to allow anyone into the building they don't know. I've experienced several site managers. Some good. Some not good. However, my neighbors, of various ethnic backgrounds, have always been pleasant and helpful. Being disabled I find people are always offering to help me with doors, carrying bags, holding the elevators, etc. Washer/Dryer on every floor operated by card that you can add money to by a machine on the first floor. But the laundry facilities are not quite enough and you need to be quick to find an available machine. I've always taken my laundry to a nearby laundromat and get several loads done at once. NEAR BY: Save-on-Foods is literally one block away as part of a little strip mall that includes a Dollar Store, Haircuts, McDonald's, Little Caesars Pizza, mailbox, Chicken on the go, etc. Also, we are just a few blocks from a Safeway, Shoppers Drug Mart, TD Canada Trust, Subway, Wee Book Inn, and Smoke shop at Parkdale Square strip mall. And my personal favorite, Burger Baron with the best burgers and milkshakes in the city, ALL YEAR AROUND!!! If you're an Esks fan, you can't get closer. When it's game days, I can hear when we've made a touchdown from the roar of the crowd. The LRT runs right by the building but it's very quiet and I rarely even notice it anymore. A lot of surrounding cement means few trees but lots of visitor parking. Before COVID-19 Edmonton Public Library came on-site every Thursday through Spring and Summer months. Several small parks and various Christian churches within just a few blocks. And our Community Center close by too. And best of all? You get the Rat Creek newspaper delivered to your mailbox - FREE of charge! LOCATION/ACCESS: We are right up close, next to the Parkdale One building and the only access to us is via a little back lane. And even though that's problematic when you're trying to get a pizza delivered, both DATS and CoOp Taxis come here often and know where we are located. Thanks for reading my lengthy review. I hope it helps anyone considering becoming my new neighbor. Laura-Lee

Aesthetically, the building looks good. The wheelchair accessible units are ok, but not 100% accessible. Lots of rules. Residents for the most part are friendly, but like every apartment there are some issues. Overall, it's ok.
