โ โ โ โ โ FYI. Buying MX PESOs was about 7% premium compared to posted rates online. Their current rate to buy PESOs in CDN was 0.758, and the posted rates are 0.7103 so its essentially a 7% premium on posted rates. I'm fine with this. I'm still fine paying this amount which was about $28 over the posted rate on $400 CDN worth of PESOs. Its never been about your rates Robert. I did check another site in Ottawa which posts their rates online, and sure enough, theirs was 0.7591, so my $400 CDN of Pesos would have cost me an extra 58 cents if I went there instead of here.
The 1 STAR rating is still there because I was mislead by the graph on your website as I didn't read the fine print - yes, my mistake, and so to remind others NOT to make the same mistake, I am posting this. To everyone: although the graph shows rates of 0.7% for buy and sell, The FINE PRINT STATES: Graph applies for USD/CAD, amounts over $ 50,000. And, yes Robert, I read your reply which states that MOST of your transactions ARE USD/CAD...this is not surprising to me. BUT, in order for the graph to be relevant to MOST customers, MOST of your transactions would have to be USD/CAD AND OVER $50,000. I'm not suggesting false advertising, or something incriminating, its just a bit shady to use the graph and fine print the way you do. 1 star.

โ โ โ โ โ Terrible terrible rate. I was screwed by about 10 cents in the dollar!! Thought I had heard .84 not .94 to change over to NZD. Definitely won't be recommending this place as it was recommended to me but they bought British pounds. I also never comment but I'm so upset that it was such a bad rate that I have to comment.

Thank you for your reply Robert. I did go back and get it changed back. I appreciate your prompt reply and your offer as I wasn't expecting anything. I will be more aware next time. If I see you have a good rate I will definitely be back.

โ โ โ โ โ I've been going to the Bank St location since 2010 and it's always been the same people working there. I've called or gone in person and have gotten a straight up answer every time.
The rates are extremely competitive and I challenge you to find a better deal elsewhere. I have gone to three other exchange joints in Ottawa and none have offered as good a rate and consistently good service.
Having gone a dozen times over the years, this is the only forex bureau in Ottawa I use now.

I tried to sell some USD but the clerk complained about some discoloration on the bills and tried to get me to sell them at half price while conceding that the bills were not fake. All the security measures were there, the bills were legit. I've never run into a foreign exchange that tried to scam me so brazenly.

โ โ โ โ โ Most of the time this place is really reliable and fast but I did have a problem when I brought in some IDR, it wasn't a huge amount only 45,000 (roughly $4) and a bahamian dollar, I'll say some of the bills were of an older series, but not so old they'd be illegitimate or not accepted, I was told that they didn't buy them so I left and if they don't buy older notes, then I'm stuck with like $60 in unusable cash, I was especially annoyed by this because I had gotten a bit of MYR and almost all of the 10s i got were old.
So all i can say in regards to something that could use changing is maybe make the tellers more aware of slightly older styles and issues of notes and if you won't accept older style notes please don't sell them.
But overall, it's a great place.

โ โ โ โ โ I went there for the first time yesterday. I had no idea how the money exchange worked and wanted to know more about "no commission" and their exchange rates. The man serving me was really patient with me and explained exactly how everything worked, he even logged on to the computer to show me the rates that TD was offering. When I received my Mexican Pesos, he wrote down how much each bill was in Canadian. I definitely would go back there, they will have my business for good!

โ โ โ โ โ Went to go get some USD and costa rican Colones for my upcoming trip. The man at the desk was really friendly, helpful and exchange rate was very reasonable.
This will definitely be my go-to currency exchange place in Ottawa.
