Took a day hike around Oster Lake and made my way to this site. Well-maintained trails and stunning autumn weather made for one of my most enjoyable hikes. But when I got to the site, three bison were chillin’ and looked at me like “You can leave or you can walk away... your choice.” I said, “Yuhp.”

For being very close to Edmonton, it is a very well maintained back country campsite. Not much in the way of hikes other then Shirley Lake trail, but a nice place to spend the night.

Very easy to access and stocked with wood so excellent for a beginner backpacking trip but still nice and secluded. I just wish it was open in the winter for snowshoe backpacking!

Nice hike in campsite with pit toilets, firewood, bear lockers and spaced out campsites. Bear lockers are a good size and can accommodate a small lock if you feel the need to bring one There was a lot of standing water through the site which sucked to walkthrough everytime we needed firewood or our food from the lockers. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and had a bison hanging out checking out the camp. That was really cool. The hike in is roughly 1 hour give it take depending on your skill level.
